launched today around 4:30 in the morning together with Caluca (another invader cat)
when doing the ramp maneuver heard from owner of Caluca that his boat has a engine failure...(engine stalls when in gear)...
I don't understand this guy...he is on holiday, spends every day at the club...knows he has one engine malfunctioning...but still makes it to the ramp knowing that he will not launch properly
don't need to say that he gave up going to the deep after a short ride (on 1 engine) at the bay

sea was a bit choppy at the bay (even with the 1knt forecasted)...but nothing much compared to last Sunday outing
today I was testing Marcos props (13 - 17pitch) on my 60hp Yammis...and I'm very impressed with the test...I'm now debating on getting those props or similar size I have now (13 - 15pitch) but on 4blades...still thinking it will put much stress on the engines
result was increase on the top speed of about 3knts bringing down the revs on 300rpm...and cruising speed more economical
today I did 75nm on 125lts of petrol...which gives an average of 1.6lt/nm
plan was to go up North...but getting to Baixo Ribeiro we spotted that the forecasted calm sea was not there...so I decided to make a change on the plan and headed towards B24
getting to the area was very easy as sea calm down and we had very flat seas
weted the lines at 6:40...a set of 4 rappies and worked the area for a while
at this time of the day contacted L Hooker (in the area since Wednesday) and he was in the area with no fish at the moment
got my first strike and within 30secs I had a very small bonnie...that stupidly (or not) released immediately
I say stupidly cause after the release I realized I could have used it with the traces I had aboard
I decided to head towards Baixo Jeremias area and to work a bit the deeper marks around Jeremias so I changed the spread to soft konas small and medium size, a heavy bullet head and a large jet head
getting to one of the southern pinnacles of Jeremias I had a nice strike on the small kona and fought the fish....untill line snapped right on the snap swivel knot when Miguel was getting ready to gaff the still very wild and active YFT
all new knots (double line with aussie plait) connecting the snap swivel with a double uni knot...all directed by Marcos and tested on the scale after when setting up the drag
we did it together last week
if you pay attention to all my reports here...it's a common issue I've been having
the bigger coincidence here...and something I realized after the frustration analysis (I've been doing) is that it was always on the same rod
1 long line release (about 100mts off) and 2 short line releases (at knot or loop)
so every outing I had aboard Maguro...I had a stress
Marcos suggested I might have a faulty spool of line...so I was thinking of replacing it tomorrow
Prego suggested not to think about it...just replace it ASAP!!!
and I will do it tomorrow...after doing some organizing at Maguro's new home at Naval
at the end of the day I had a nice ride and it was nice being out one more time in the blue...a bit dirty with temps ranging the 25º's
on the way back to Maputo I stopped at a really nice beach...wild and waiting for us for next weekend
got to Naval by 13:00
checked with L Hooker and they were luckier the we were...between the 2 boats they caught a dorie, 10kg cuta, 2 YFT and 3 small kingfish...also mentioned that the fishing was though...lets wait for his report soon
tomorrow we will meet at Naval upon they arrival with ETA 7:30
