Booked another cruise from 18 - 22 Jan 2021, the MSC opera docks in maputo harbour on 19 Jan 2021 and we spend a day and night there. I'd love to hook up with one of you guys from maputo, either for a short fishing trip (Fuel paid) or organise a tour around maputo

I'm in!!! 


Weather permiting we'll go for a short fishing trip (don't worry about the fuel).... otherwise we can certainly organize a get together!!!!

as far as I know Naval did not closed the ramp...I don't know about Maritimo and Escola Náutica

Naval ramp usage and reception office are not closed...pool and restaurant are

I suggest you to call reception for further information regarding new schedules

I did speak now to some at Naval, its like you say the only thing open is the ramp from 8H00 - 15H00.


but would love to know if the law states anything about Fishing


will carry on trying to find out and let the group Know.

My thoughts on the matter:


* Moz is not on a lockdown and staying at home is voluntary;


* Fishing (ie. commercial) is deemed essential. In fact the Minister herself said that fishing activities should increase to ensure food security.


* Nothing said about recreational fishing per se. If your boat carries less than 10 people you should be on the legal side;


* I guess Naval is keeping the ramp open to accommodate that and also because this is the ramp that the ambulance-boat from Inhaca uses (and all the dhows in bay when southerlies blow);


* Having said that, and despite all the cabin fever, I'm staying home. For the sake of my family, the staff of the club, the people at the petrol station, and my own.


People freak out now because they can't do some fishing. I bet most of the guys don't launch or go fishing more than 2 times a year! This has been going on for 2 months!!!! Come on!!! Just think that we are giving the fish a change to grow...

I'm taking huge strain... I fish every weekend on my local dams, weather permitting. I fish alone 99% of the time so it's kinda difficult for me to get my head around our situation... But rules are rules so I will just have to wait. Hopefully we will be able to get out before the water gets too cold for bass. But getting onto the dam is more than just fishing as far as I'm concerned... Being on the water breathes life into my soul.
