Thanks Papparoach it was on my 4 wt so needles to say it gave me a proppa rev, Luckily i didn't let him take me down stream, i played him hard and kept him in the same pool I hooked him in. 5kgs . It took a black flashback nymph I tied the day before thanks to Rorys bit of incite

Sean also got destroyed by a monster carp the same day hahaha

Spend the weekend at Olienhout lodge 2km upstream from Elgro lodge. The accommodation was top class with a view to kill. Flows were on the slow side leaving me with very little fishable water .All my fishing was done at the same rapped +/- 200m from the accommodation .

Only landed 1 Muddy and lost count on the Yellow but probably landed about 25 for the weekend all in the 1kg range . Brilliant weekend will be back there soon .

News on OFM today at 3pm: Matlosana Municipality is polluting the Vaal river. Stilfontein refuse plant is non-functional and pumping sewage into the koekemoers spruit. This then flows into Vaal around the Vermaasdrift bridge. Sad news! I caught my PB small mouth in that area of 3.2kgs! Haven't been there in years, prefer the Parys region these days.

Lets hope they do something about it asap!

Myself, Travis (TravisPole on UA), Jay, Mark and Jarrod fished yesterday towards Parys. Flows are currently at around 18 cubes, which is about as slow as you want them, but at least this makes wading easy. I didn't measure the water temp but it was still pretty warm. The fish played along nicely with everyone getting into fish. Mark was definitely the "cormorant" for the session, he was hammering the fish. He also caught the biggest yellow I've seen come out in a long while, a real beaut of a fish guesstimated weight easily 3kg, a smashing fish. Fish sizes varied from juveniles to some good bus size, with both muddies and yellows coming out. I did a bit of a gogga inspection, plenty mayfly crawlers but all tiny, hook size smaller than 18 and olive brown in colour. The caddis were about hook size 18 and mostly a light pale grey colour. Flies that produced for me were Humpy's Favourite on the control, and mustard and olive Czech type caddis larva on the point.
