O.K. I t seems as if there is enough interest in a UA, flyfishing trip. :uarocks
I think the venue should be bait as well as f/f freindly, and will be decided later.
First off is the date, and some indications of people intersted. ( Some venues can't handle large numbers ).
Sunday 3rd March is good ito moon phase?
And ye say what ? fshg

Flows allowing, I'm in! :geet

Excellent Gerhard! Control flies like rockworms and caddis imitations will be good, and smaller caddis and mayflies for the point. Even San Juan worms are killers, they always work if the water clarity isn't too good.

and Jup, the Windhoeks had skewed my eyes, I was actually looking at the 3rd April duh duh, but hey the 5th or 6th of March will work as well.
If everyone is ok with the 5th, then it's set in stone.
Now the venue ???? Hmmmmmm, Seasoned Rock Anglers who can handle big waves etc, ( I've seen Monster wade in flats booties and rapids mean nothing to him w;k ),
so I'm thinking maybe Oord Nebo? ( Flows permitting ).
A great venue with chalets and camping facilities for those who wish to make a full weekend of the trip.
And ye say ????

Guys that have no kits or knowledge ???
-
I am very keen to get yellows but its go to be not to far away as I have to look at my petrol budget and if I can afford it or not...
I am sure this also goes for a lot of the other guys and hope this will be taken in consideration when planning on a venue.

Don't worry Kumz, i am a complete Novice, the reason i am keen to tag along is so that guys like Herman and Rory can show me how it's done, quite a few people joining so it sounds like it's going to be an awesome outing
-
Can't you go on the Sunday??
Yes, I should be able to do the Sunday. If you guys make a weekend of it I will come through on the Sunday.

Gerhard, If petrol is a concern why not organise that a few of you go in one car and split the costs? This is what we usually do on Vaal trips.
-
I cant catch :crb from a 2 dollor Ho with a fly rod either !!! Any body needing a lift is more that welcome to travel with me from Randburg ! My fuel is on the house so no worries .
:grk:
-
Ok,
Lets see who are going and wants to join the saam ry klub.
I do 99.9% of my fishing alone so it would be good to go out with other guys on the water... w;k

My wife uses the Jeep on weekends
I can take plus one in a corsa bakkie, petrol not an issue
-
Have we decided on venue?
-
Yes, I should be able to do the Sunday. If you guys make a weekend of it I will come through on the Sunday.
LOL - I meant can't you go to the Iron and ink on Sunday :dunno:
Guys, the venue Oord Nebo is really nice, but its past Potch!! Me, I'm not keen on driving all that way for a day/morning session. :vio Theres lots of wading friendly venues closer by. It only make sense to get lifts from each other, and then we'll meet up at the Engen one stop before Grasmere and drive in convoy from there.
-

Hehe, unfortuantely it has the baby seat and the smash and grab tint, and she loves the fact that the glass door at the back opens seperatley on the keys because it is convenient to pack her groceries ......

Are we going to do something just below barrage?
If we move it to the 6th there might be less people on the river correct me if me is wrong?

I think below the barrage is better, much closer than Potch!! Sundays are usually a bit quieter but you never can tell. I think most of the guys here would prefer Saturday?
Don't worry icstuff, once i start making my wild casts the crowds will soon disperse
Hee hee hee, no man this is the Vaal river, the fish are a rod length away from you! No long line casting required!
My bad . . . No, I'm going with my artist and she's only going on the Saturday. :sadd
Bring her fishing in the morning and then go through in the afternoon!! :hyst:

Ok, How far is this ??? Kms from 4ways ???

Approx 100 kms. About an hours drive, most of the drive is on the freeway. Have you got a flyrod?
-
Just remember a wading stick!
-
You guys are going to have to plan another one of these soon so I can make, been itching to get back on the river.

Great to see so much interest.
I agree with Rory ito venue, oord Nebo is a bit far.
How about Eastco guys, also has tons of water, fairly easy wading and good facilities?
Do you guys prefer the Sat, or would the Sunday be more suitable ?
-
if it is on a Sat ... i will be keen to attend ...
i need lessons & i may get a few other guys to join .... w;k

It's looking like the Sat 5th of March, is the day. Rory, will you be able to make that day ?, and if so, what are the chances of a keg ? (clap) :happ: :rck"

I'll be there - klaar ge-organise! (hap Being at the mercy of the flow rate, its pointless ordering a keg - everyone must bring their own liquid refreshments.
All the guys going for their first "Vaal Shuffle" please check this thread:
http://www.ultimateangling.co.za/index.php/topic,510.0.html (http://www.ultimateangling.co.za/index.php/topic,510.0.html)
This is the setup I recommend you start with, its not the be all and end all of setups but has accounted for plenty plenty fish.
-
Silly question, do we need waders ?
Also for the fishing we going to be doing, do we use floating, intermediate or sinking line ?
The reason i ask is i am setup with floating line, i know the tippet can do the necessary sinking when needed
I am clueless when it comes to this facet
-
No you don't need a wader, although it makes it more comfortable.
-
Morning gents, Quickbite and I are also keen to join you boys on the day, need some tutoring and guidance from the xperts.
I have been trying for yellows for 2 years now with little success, need to step up my game OR the wife gonna sell my tackle, lol.

Waders are up to you. I think more important though are good non slip shoes!! The wading in the Vaal can be nasty!! Ja we'll fish floating lines, not that you'll end up using much of the flyline.

:tkx: for the feedback guys, really looking forward to this one, hope all the elements come together for the 5th

No, not before the convention. Started on the black shading last weekend. Just going with Glen and Tory to see how the pieces that they enter do. Tory especially is entering a few stunning pieces. Sucks you cant make it.
-
Ja, I am pretty bleek that I wont be there...
Take your camera!!! There be some proper work to be seen! The chick that wins back every year should be there, Ask Grant McNicol to point her out if you cant find her! He is the owner of the Jol. Legend oke and a good friend of mine & my Tops...

Rory - is Eastco -the same road as Woelwaters ?? and whats damage at Eastco?
Quick, I'm not to sure where Woelwaters is, but Eastco is on the R500 just before Parys. If my brittle memory serves me correctly, the Aunty charges per vehicle and per person. I'm sure Herman will remember the figures!
Guys I'm concerned that the flow rate is not going to drop enough to allow us to fish properly. I think the first run at Eastco will be fishable in stronger flows though, but we'll only really be able to tell when we get there.
So I'm thinking that even if the flows are too high to fish we should still make an outing of the Saturday regardless, seeing as though most guys have committed. There are some very experienced guys joining us and we can pick their brains, discuss setups and techniques etc. have a braai and socialise?
And you all say?????
-
I say go, even if we cant fish we can have a nice social.
-
Yes, please!!!

Thanks Rory- what flies you reccomend i get...

Sounds like a plan !!!!
I'll confirm closer

Most of the tackle shops have a dedicated section for yellowfish flies. The tried and trusted would be along these lines:
Hot spot Mayfly nymphs #14 - #16
San jaun worms #14 - #16
Gold ribbed hares ear nymphs (natural, black and olive) #14 - #16
Green rock worms (also look for grey, peacock and natural) #10 - #12
Mutard caddis #10 - #12
While you at the tackle shop, get some strike indicators, a spool of .22mm Maxima and don't be scared to bring the split shot! Don't buy the tapered leaders for fishing the Vaal. w;k

Generally the flies aren't too pricey if you buy the packs of 3.
When you look at the custom tied flies, they gonna rip you a new one. swr
Have a look at the list I posted, that should sort you out. I'll tie up a span of Humpy's Favourites to dish out.
I'll try convince Herman, Koos and Nico to tie some good control flies to bring with. Nudge, nudge, nudge, hint, hint........

Sorry - Mias or Sollys!

I'm still onboard, if Homie can't make it(he better make it) i'll bring my little braai

Sorry for being absent for a while. sry
Rory's list of flys covers the range for any venue on the Vaal. I think his best tip was, don't forget the splitshot. :clwn. If you see you are not getting down, it's so much quicker to clinch a shot on than change flies. Also heavier flies, normally = bigger flies, and then you may just be outsizing the food.
As far as damages are concerned, the last time we were there, it was R150, for 2 people.
There is a rate per vehicle, plus per person.
Seeing that this is am epic trip, I will phone them during the course of the week, and see if I can't get a " BULK DISCOUNT". w;k
If anyone is wanting directions, but can not join the convoy from the Engen 1 stop on the N1 Sth to bloem, let me know where you are coming from, and I'll do my best to get you there.
OH HELL. I've just remebered that SALOON 2000 is open on Saterdays. :happ: Is anyone going to get home on Sat night. SWAMBOS = :unhap (bat :vio

Just had a peek at the flows myself. Goosebay at 49. If it drops to 30 odd during this week, stays there untill Thursday next week, and on Friday next week rises to around 60, then it's WHOOOOPPPPEEEE. fshg fshg :happ: :happ:

Mario, you're a scholar and a gentleman sir. Cred for you. Any chance that you can join us?
-
Would absolutely love to Rory but next week-end is already fully booked with family responsibility stuff. I am however heading out to the river this week-end with one member of the United Nations (The good doctor's son). Not sure where yet - either Eastco or Oord Nebo. Might give Eastco a try and make sure the likkewaan is fully awake to scare the living sh1t out of all the newbies on your trip next week-end.
-
If you go to eastco, will you give us a report back next week?
-
There is a chance that I might bring a friend along for the day next weekend.
Will confirm next week.
-
If you go to eastco, will you give us a report back next week?
Will do - with the high flows we had I reckon the river is still full of food and the clarity is going to be a bit shocking to say the least.
Will have to use search patterns such as hot head brassies etc.
My favourite flies for Eastco have always been a normal GRHE in conjunction with a Mustard Caddis control but I guess I will have to try something else this week-end.
My tip would be a Humpy's Favourite fished with an orange tungsten bead black nymph.

This thread has died a suddend death!! Is it just me and rory stoked about this trip?
Camon, gents, this will be a memorable trip! Were are the days that we had 50 to 60 pages of people responding to this?
@Big G, you wana catch a lift with us and park your car at Rory's? Have something blue in the cabual!
@Koos, you indicated that someone is joining you? You driving alone or with us?
Peeps, if all else fails, ill still go! Come hell or high water, I need this brake!
Am I the only one stocked for this trip? This is Ultimate angling, on not some backstreet operating forum! We go BIGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!
Let's hear it!

Sorry that I've been so scarce.
The flows are looking good, and barring a cyclone should stay that way.
I still need to contact Eastco, ito a discount for numbers, but will do so before next Friday.
At this late stage, I must re-iterate Rory's advice. Have decent footwear guys. Sandals, Rockies, or barefoot will just leave you in pain, as well as p!ssed off.
Also wading sticks. A broom handle, cut off at rib height, drill a hole through one end, through which you attach about 2m of ski rope, and then nail a rubber stopper on the other end.
Wrap some insulation tape around the top for your "handle" ( to avoid splinters ) and you are done. w;k

Quick - I have to agree with ICstuff here, rather wear a pair of trainers/takkies. Surprisingly, safety boots actually make very good wading boots, as well as those canvas military type boots.

Okay- just wanted to find out - because i know that waders come with boots ...
is it a must to have a wader??
Old takkies it is then :)

Quick,
For summer its ok to wade without a wader, as long as your family jewls don't get wet.
For a tall man like me its not a problem. On our last trip I waded without a wader, and it was alright.

a comfortable height, if a broomstick is to short for you get one of those that a rake would use. But is comes down to personal taste.
Will bring it on Saturday!

Hi Gents
Sorry, I haven't been following the tread. Work has been crazy. So what is the final plans?
-
March 5, eastco 16km from parys on the R500
-
OK boys and girls I fished the river on Saturday and Sunday and it was seriously HARD!
It was like fishing a 50m mudslide but maybe by the time you bunch get there it might have cleared up a bit. Visibility was probably around 5cm which made it even harder.
The river is currently full of debris, branches just under the surface and millions of kilometers of fishing line courtesy of our beloved papswaaiers.
Fished Saturday from 16:00 to 18:30 and only managed one muddy on a small black fb nymph.
Sunday was a bit better and I manged to land three yellows and a moerse catfish between 09:00 and 12:00.
There was very little life in the river in general. Turning over rocks and grabbing some pieces of driftwood as they floated past only revealed at most maybe one or two insects.
All the yellows were landed on black fb nymphs, size 16 with 2.5mm orange tungsten beads. The muddy I landed on a peacock caddis and the catfish also on the black fb nymph.
Due to the river being so dirty extra caution should be taken when wading as you cannot see the rock lying in wait to mate with your ankle. Take it easy!
Eastco is a relatively tough wade so make sure you have a wading stick.
I suggest that if the river is still dirty when you get there to maybe try flies a little bit bigger (Size 12 & 14), also use flies that will cast a better or more visible silhouette. By this I mean you can use any fly you want as long as it is black...
If all else fails ask Rory to point out the mullberry tree and try some half chicken's and woolly buggers directly underneath it - lots of catfish to be had under that tree.
Regarding the wading sticks a couple of tips.
Make sure your wading stick floats! You have no idea how many times you are going to donner over your wading stick if you cannot see it. A floating stick is also easier to grab when in need - you will have no idea if your wading stick is on your left, right, behind or in front of you if it does not float.
If you don't have a scale on the river it is quite easy to work out the weight of the fish later by using the length of the fish. On your wading stick start at the bottom and mark your wading stick at 50cm, 55cm, 60cm, 65cm and 70cm by using insulation tape or a permanent marker. It is easy once you have landed the fish to measure it on your wading stick.
Have fun the week-end and take it easy in the river.

There is plenty shade there, but you can pack one in just in case.
-
How long do you intend standing in one spot?
Don't get me wrong, i want to be fishing as long as possible, but seeing as i don't know the spot, i would have thought we need a spot to sit and have some chow etc...

Bring die ding man!!! How else are you going to stay cool whilst tanning those flatties for lunch? :hyst:
-
No need for a Gazebo at Eastco

lol- so you saying i must carry a small net?
-
Guys I'll cook a pot of my homemade SPICY CHUNKY CHUTNEY SAUCE for those boerie rolls that MC is so kindly sponsoring.
-
MAN am I glad Herman told me about this trip! .. As my proposed fishing partners chickened out one by one for our Saturday fishing trip, I thought I would end up alone on the Vaal on Saturday ... but NOT ANYMORE! :tkx:
You guys can count me in!
I'll be driving from Centurion, so anybody else looking for a lift from Centurion or even Midrand area are more than welcome to hop in...
If not, I'll meet you all at the Engen garage at 6am ... or if I miss you guys there, I'll catch up with you at Eastco ...
P.S. This was the quickest time I've ever joined a forum! ... I was WONDERING where Herman, Rory and the rest of the gang is hanging out these days! w;k
-
Ha ha! Harold is in the house!! :welc: It'll be good to fish with you again man, you prepared to help out the new guys going with?
-
Nog net drie slapies!
Cant wait any longer, going to book myself of sick tomorrow and go down to the river.

See you Saturday
-
How many new guys are going to the Vaal on Saturday?
Are we going to split up in groups or what? You guys won't give me lip if I perhaps take a group and put them onto fish? Don't want to hear we were fishing the "SPAWN BEDS". (bat

If so I want to be in your group fishing the "spawn beds" I wont tell anyone!
-

There is a rumor doing the rounds that I fish spawn beds by standing in water waist deep water :dunno:
-
Anyone that puts me on the fish... I'll put them on the beers
-
My advise will be to get ready before Rory does, see where he is going and snatch that spot from him. The man has a knack for catching the first fish of the day
-
Anyone that puts me on the fish... I'll put them on the beers
Think I might fish with you!!!! You got the chow, the beverages and the portable shade. What more can I ask for? :vio

Seeing that this will only be my 5th trip, I'm still a newbie myself! I was more thinking of being IN one of the groups BEING led by one of you "harde baard manne"! :resp:
Seeing that mustard caddis has always been my goto fly, it sounds like that tactic might not work this Saturday ... so I might just make my name @#$%#$% if I try and show someone "how to do it" ... :cnfzd
That feeling you get in your stomach just before a nice loooong December holiday ....I'm almost getting that exact same feeling in my stomach for the weekend! .... this is going to be a loooooong Wednesday, Thursday & Friday! :sadd

I suggest you take some medicine before you go. I dont mind people crapping themselves, I just dont want to see or smell it! Take some toilet paper just in case. If need be you could hop onto one of the Islands for a veldtie. w;k

No that happens the night BEFORE the trip ...not DURING the trip .... maybe because of an overdose uhmmmm ..sleeping pills ...yes ...let's call it sleeping pills ... taken to calm me down ... :hehe:
Woohooo flows down to about 31 cub ! ...at this rate, I can almost bring my 2 year old daughter along to do the Vaal shuffle with me!
By the way ...on a serious note ... My son is almost 7, and would REALLY REALLY like to introduce him to Vaal yellow Fly fishing ... now if he stands next to me, when the water level is about halfway between my knees and waist, it will bew about waist deep for him .... I guess at this point it would be impossible for him to wade the waters that we are going to wade? I know silwer strome is out of the question, cause there I OFTEN wade waist deep ...

Never mind ....scrap that thought ... I was just thinking about the strength of the flow ... he will never be able to stay upright ... he can wait till he's the same length as me ... I'll rather have a son at home, not fishing with me, but alive, than one that has been swept away by the current ...

Let him fish from the bank

Let him fish from the bank
Nooooo no no ...you don't understand .... the first sign that I'm catching more fish than him, while wading, he will NOT be happy with staying on the bank anymore ... :hehe:

Harold :welc:
Glad you took my advice. w;k
Eastco's first run would be perfect to introduce the youngster, as would Eendekuils first run.
History shows that Eendekuil's first run is the "perfect" nursery for young anglers. Very easy wading as well as fish eager for the fly.
I'm also looking forward to Sat. Been tying flies, which is why I'm a bit late tonight, :sml:

Are you guys gonna eat breakfast at Engen, or at Eastco?
Think I will just have to fill up my stomach a bit before I enter the water, else the growling might chase away the fish!

I'm giving Gavin a lift, so if you don't mind the 2 of us then its cool. The less vehicles that go - the cheaper the entrance fee! :rck"

No worries! '
The "Monster Trokkie" has more than enough space. What time should I come pick you up?

About 04h45 should be good. If Louie is still coming along can he catch a ride with you as well?

Any ideas what the entrance fee will be and whether Herman could organize discount or something?
-
Jip, no worries. I'll see you then is there any chance I can still put my name on for one of those steak rolls?
-

If my brittle memory serves me correctly its about 50 bucks per person and then the same per vehicle, something like that!
Jip, no worries. I'll see you then is there any chance I can still put my name on for one of those steak rolls?
Cool bananas I'll get hold of him now. I'm sure Darren can organise something for you?

How much backing is on your reel? :lolo: If the yellows are slow, I'll show you the Mudfish spot!
-
That is my plan of action, i spoke with Rory, if i don't come right with the yellows, i will try for the catfish on fly as well, failing that i am taking my bass rod with

Quick question ...
From the north on the N1 ... which is the best route ... past silwerstrome, then past Eendekuil and then onto the R500? ...
Or keep on straight with the N1, to the Parys turnoff, then at Parys take the R500??
-
What will be sweet is an East co Grand Slam Yellow, Muddie and barbel all on Fly!!!. But just for incase I'll take a good casting stick too.

You said it, not to detract from the days fly fishing adventure, i know there are some big barbel in there at the moment, the 7ft flick stick is a must, but i am thinking if there is a real big one, perhaps the berkley air 9ft XH :dunno:
Taking some chicken livers with just in case
-
Is it just me or is today taking forever, At what felt like this time yesterday I was home already!!
-
Awesome Fly Rory!!!
What, where?????

Rory will 50m Backing be ok for barbel?
What flies/size do you need?

Rory will 50m Backing be ok for barbel?
What flies/size do you need?
I suppose it depends on the size of the barbel?? Barbel will take most flies but if you want to actively target them you'll need bigger flies that push lots of water. Woolly Buggers, Half chickens etc.
I ended up on your Candy fly for some reason! I msut be losing my marbles though I posted that there?
Hee hee, good ninja edit there!!

lekker trip boys....thanks for a good day out...we have to do and fly fishing social again... :appr:
-
Yep! ...thanx for a great day! ... wish I had some of those boeries and steak rolls for leftovers ...would've gone down NICELY this morning again! :hnthnt:
I was not sure why everyone left at lunctime though ....I thought we're gonna do an afternoon session as well??
ANYWAY ...I stayed on till around 4:15pm, and got my first baber on fly as well (although it was the smallest baber I've ever seen)
So for the day, I caught at least 3 species .... muddy, yellow and baber ...
I've only got a photo of the yellow and baber, but Monster can at least testify for my muddy ... w;k
I see the yellow at Eastco is also injured ... when you enlarge the photo, you can see the damage to it's back dorsal fin .. it even left some blood on my arm.. it might have been from the floods, but I though fish heels MUCH quicker than that???? ...strange ...
-
Thanks to everyone who made the trip. After having organised quite a few trips for Flytalk, all I can say is :uarocks :uarocks.
Everyone pitched, and although the fishing was not easy, I believe at least 80% of those there at least hooked a fish. :happ:
Thanks to everyone for a great day. (clap) (clap)
We should do it again. w;k w;k
-
WHEN'S THE NEXT ONE BOYS ???
Fantastic outing :win:
Herman, Rory, so keen to share knowledge with us beginners, the guys had alot of patience with us
Nico, your monster trokkie lives upto it's name, thanks again for taking us
Darren you're a legend bud, that chow really hit the spot
To all the other lads that were there, spending the day fishing with you guys is the reason I enjoy fishing so much
We definately need to make more of these day trips, what a JOL !

@ Craig, your yellow might have gotten away, but i watched you fight it, that chuffed look on your face said it all
The next one won't get away that easily
-
Thanks to each and everyone that made it out to Eastco on Saturday. Was fun putting names to faces. Darren thanks for those Boeries and Steak Rolls. I was so stuffed that I didn't even want something to eat Saturday night.
My mate Daryl asked me if you guys were a group of friends or something? I replied that we are all from a forum. He could not believe his ears. He was pleasantly surprised. So a big hands up to you all!!! w;k :resp:

Good Morning Gents

MC thank you for the lunch, you are a champ!

:win:
-
Sad i missed out on this one okes hope you guys had a jol!
-
Good Morning Chaps,
Rory, Koos, Daryl, Herman, Darren, THANK YOU for the input and the willingness to teach the newbies and share the little things that will help with the big catches.
Guys I learnt a ton on saturday and now i feel a little more equipped and confident the next time I'm on the river, you guys made it look easy and kept it simple without confusing us new okes.
Was great meeting you guys and forming new fishing friendships, now that we started lets endeavour to keep the ULTIMATE FRESHWATER SOCIALS coming.
Well done to all you manage to get some fish in hard conditions, esp Craig, from what i saw on saturday I think you've done this before, LOL, WEL DONE MATE.
Darren those boeries and steaks are a sin brother but I forgive you, they were the best, THANKS GUYS - :appr:
-
Thanks for an awesome day guys, big ups to all the guys that pitched. The fishing was really really tough so hats off to all the guys that managed to catch some fish. Harold, you the man!!! The vis in the water was about 5 -10cm and I reckon the fish are still shell shocked after the floods! A big thank you to the more experienced guys who were prepared to spend some time with the newbies, showing them the ropes - much appreciated. :resp:
I'll post some pics tonight. Unfortunately I didn't get any pics of the "Vaal Shuffles" Thanks Darren the braaimaster, and Gavin for the "Breakfast".
:uarocks :uarocks :uarocks
So when we going again????
-
19 or 20 march? :dunno:
-
Thats the weekend of the Top Gear festival
How about 1st Weekend in April ?
-
In all honesty from what I have seen on Saturday, I think the Vaal will only fish really well after winter. The reason for that is that there are no Caddis Pupa around. All the drift wood that passed me or even when snagging and pulling the flies out, I would only see Mayflies. There where Adult Caddis around, but its still early days. I reckon most of the insect life got washed down stream as well as the fish. There were a couple of fish around, but not like it should have been. As the insect life pics up, so will the fishing. The visibility was not that great, but we have caught fish in these sort of conditions.
Visibility should also be super by September/October. This winter might also produce some good catches on the dry. As for now, I wouldn't bother going out to the Vaal soon.
-
Thanks Chaps for an absolute cracker of a day! My first fly fishing experience will go down as one of those very special moments in life. I got revved properly by a Yellow that unfortunately fell off but every body fishing the lower Barrage area heard me scream, goose bump stuff. Did manage to catch my first Vaal fish on fly with my last cast of the day after taking the Mother of all tumbles over a submerged rock.
Mussel Cracker you’re a legend, the chow went down lekker. To the rest of the guys that made it just showed me again the calibre of Ultimate Angler members you would not find a nicer bunch of Blokes.

I had to babysit my boy on Saturday so could not make it. It had really nothing to do with stiff middle fingers or headaches. True

Shot. When I plan on heading out to the upper Vaal maybe, I will inform you beforehand.
Perhaps our strike rate would be better. I just want the water visibility to clear up a bit and then I will hit the Vaal again.
Best Regards
Koos

It looks like you guys had a great time despite the poor viz and slow fishing, well done (clap). I hope to be able to make the next one but I agree with Koos about the river not fishing as well as what it usually does until viz improves and the insect life returns to normal.
I am however looking forward to spending winter chasing largies and SM on dry.
