Nice Shaun to see a bit of blood on the deck

when I die, may my wife not sell my fishing tackle for what I told her I paid for it... and I have bought more, a severe case of TA

Had a lekka day out today..
Launched out of shelly and filled up with spaaan of mackerel and small bonnies and headed up to sheppi river mouth to target some Dorries.
Pinned a live mackerel on a light spinning setup with 30lb to have some good fun if I got into some dorries,
Slow trawled for about half and hour and heard a huge splash Behind the boat and my rod screamed away.. But no jumps?
Fought the fish for around 10-12min and boated a lekka yellowfin of 18,7kilo. Stoked!
Setup spread again this time I added a sardine to the mix just behind the motors and about and hour and half later it screamed away and it was jumping!
Kept it in the water next to the boat just playing with it to see if it had a friend with it but nothing so put the gaff in and boated it.. 7kilo dorrie ..
Carried trying for another for a while but nothing went to sheppie brick and got smashed up on the light tackle and that was that for the day..
While weighing my tuna I weighed a guys cuda that he got off tweni on straight nylon fishing for dorries.. He got two pulls and only boated the one.. 21kilos..

Anyone heard of any wahoo action on Aliwal recently? Keen to give this a bash next month but haven't fished/launched there in 12 or so years.

Shaun I know the area well so if you are looking for crew  :hnthnt: , but yes the summer months do deliver sailies wahoo and lots of dorries. The best months for Wahoo are usually April / May but being a summer gamefish they are there already. Either hi-speed trolling with weighted wahoo lures or my personal favourite slow trolling two live bonnies. My preference is to launch from Rocky Bay. Pennington and Umko can be pretty sketchy...

Myself, FFF and FFFjunior launched yesterday, we managed 3  :dor:  all in 7-8 kilo range, two landed in the bush and 3rd at the ships. Like a highway yesterday with all boats steaming out, going to be a busy summer.
