I guess I need to ask my best DYI friend to produce me one
 :creep:

Think you deserve a severe strafdop for not having one onboard already!

Seriously though, all Boats should have a device to help release fish suffering with Barotrauma.

we took a few pictures and measure it and after some revival in the water we release the fish...just to see it floating and struggling to go down
we tried all...pushing it down...trowing it down...all ended up with the fish at the surface kicking the fin and trying to dive down with no success
didn't realyse a fish would have barotrauma coming so slowly to the surface...I thought this would only happen when the fish is winched up quickly
I grabbed a knife and decided to stab the fish next to the pectoral fin...what a relief...for me and the fish
we heard the air flowing...and the fish got stronger and stronger and swam freely back to his reef
ufa!!!! we were both very happy

any tips on this matter??

I'll will make you guys one of this (http://www.ultimateangling.co.za/index.php?topic=13332.0). So next time no stabbing will be necessary

eisha...soon soon I will have a proper SD...for very good reasons

now seriously...yesterday I spoke to JohnF regarding the procedure we did and helped the fish to go down and what could be the side effects for doing it
he mentioned that fish might suffer from some minnor infection...but it will be strong enough to scare us another time

I only did that cause I saw it previously on videos...not with a knife...with a needle...but at that moment we only had a knife and I rather do that then either leave it at the surface for some shark chow or bring it along with us

I guess we took the right decision

Eish fast fingers today ... looks like Reefz beat me to it...

Yeah, that fish has a LOT more chances of surviving than in your fish hatch... given the circumstances I think you guys did well....

Will organize the release device today!

Feel the same. I hope Tuesday public holiday will give me a chance to run out for a days fishing.
