Best part was me literally hugging the first YFT that got to the boat. Double strike, and Miguel was helping Pedro and I yelled to the guys I don't need a gaff... I'll haul in into the boat straight up. As soon and the tuna hit the transom step plate between the motors, the trebles got loose and the fish just stood there frozen still! I jumped and hugged it quite quickly while still holding the rod! The

didn't have a chance to realize what was going on

yesterday I was invited to go aboard king, a Acecraft 660 DV...it is my mate Miguel's recent aquisition
so plan was to chase the bigger tunas like the one we caught last week...so we launched at 7:20 and headed straight to poço
sea was slightly bumpy but we got there safely
seaborn was already in the area and we soon start having some action
double strike...Miguel grabbed the right rod...I grabbed the wrong one...I meant right and wrong cause my reel didn't stop screaming...non stop till nearly we got spooled even on sunset
I have never seen a run like this...I ended up helping Miguel landing our first YFT of the day cause the line on my reel ended up snapping
we set lines and again we had a double strike...and again we had a line snap immediately after the strike...and landed another YFT
we decided to take the tld25 out of the game (Miguel doesn't know the quality of the line there and we didn't want to risk loosing more fish...and tackle)
so we set only 3 rods out and not long after we had a strike on the tld50
eisha...what a fight...at a certain moment we thought we had a shark on the line cause there was no movement at all...the fish was just swimmimg at the bottom (in about 60mt of water) and giving Miguel a big hiddin
after 40min of fight we saw color for the first time...and soon realized we had a huge GT on the line
I grabbed the tail and couldn't lift it aboard...we could only do it the 2 of us
we took a few pictures and measure it and after some revival in the water we release the fish...just to see it floating and struggling to go down
we tried all...pushing it down...trowing it down...all ended up with the fish at the surface kicking the fin and trying to dive down with no success
didn't realyse a fish would have barotrauma coming so slowly to the surface...I thought this would only happen when the fish is winched up quickly
I grabbed a knife and decided to stab the fish next to the pectoral fin...what a relief...for me and the fish
we heard the air flowing...and the fish got stronger and stronger and swam freely back to his reef
ufa!!!! we were both very happy
that fish made our day...134cm fork lenght...according to fish calculator it's estimated ~45kg...a fish of a lifetime
we could go home now with this bucket list fish...that's what we did but before we caught another couple of YFT...and saw a couple of hammerhead sharks cruising at the surface
another great day at sea with plenty activity and action...been too long to see so many boats at poço...we were 5 in total (seaborn, king, tangara, mungano and big fish) ...all caught YFT

they were the ones navigating around us...and trying to figure out what we were doing there for so long
