only reason you coming aboard ōtoro is the lack of crew on maximvs!!!

"they will not lose for the delay"...this is JohnF's new motto for the fishing year

Will let peterblace tell the story...

I guess yesterday trip could be named "best of....straf dops"

with the bday day reserved to the government and better forecast predicted for Sunday we decided to launch Sunday
it was JohnF, Miguel and myself aboard otoro...for JohnF it was first fishing session aboard my boat

Saturday afternoon we set all and the plan was to search for the tunas (we heard they were in Poco area...but very illusive)...plenty people said they were launching but we were the only ones there

By 5:45 we were at the club...and on the way there we soon realized that the weatherman was playing with us...it was very far from the 4knt predicted and we could feel it immediately when we launched

Bumpy sea all the way...and very rough (with no standard wave direction) from cockburn all the way to the fishing grounds. What normally takes about 1:15/1:25 took us nearly 2:15...and at a certain point we decided that at those speeds we should put at least 1 line out...but no takers
...plenty people said they were launching but we were the only ones there!

With rough seas we decided to only have 2 lines out...getting to Poco and setting the lines the action started....1 line out...second rod still in hands...and a double strike...

We had plenty of this during the day...on one of them while JohnF was starting to fight his fish the second line started going fast...I grabbed the rod and while getting ready to fight the fish we saw a big splash and line went slack...no idea what was there...untill we touched the leader to find out there was bill rash

By 10:30 all the action in that area got dead and we start our way South to explore B45 and B24 area on the way home we set the outriggers with 2 konas...left the 2 rappies and the shotgun...with the sea coming from the side we were having a more comfortable ride

Getting to B45 we saw some action at the surface...tuna smashing at the surface...and when we turned back one of the reels started peeling fast...
but strangly there was no  :sreel: ...a big laugh aboard

Straf dop for mr. JohnF for not putting the ratchet on...and he grabbed the rod to fight the fish...and break his back as this was the 21kg yft

Pleanty of life at sea...we saw whales all over...dolphins...birds working...tuna smashing at the surface...fish running (jumping and flying) for their life...and we caught fish!

Great that we caught fish as I previously organized with Naval restaurant to set a table for a bunch of people to chat and chill (I won't say it was to celebrate my b-day as the cake had no candles)

Great thanks for JohnF and Miguel for the day...there were many moments we nearly decided to turn back home...but I'm happy that the decision was to brave the sea and the day!

In my defense, I was the slave of the day... these guys made me work like a prisoner! It's only fair that only ONCE the bloody thing wasn't on... and we spotted the rod bending immediately (as we were expecting it!)...

Anyway, I'll gladly take that SD.... single malt please!!!!

Cheers mate! You know me.... I wouldn't have it any other way! Out there to work and make it worth...

Great day indeed, thanks! And I must say... some of those waves were scary and uncomfortable, but not as much as the bloody humpbacks breaching 15 m from the boat!!!
