Time to revive this thread...

Water is getting warmer (+24o C) and apparently the YFT run is still very much alive...

Weather looks promising for Sunday, so will give it a go...

Also, Clube Maritimo will have the first leg of it's championship this Sunday (supposed to be Saturday but postponed due to the SE)....

Dates for the comps are:

28 Nov 15
12 Dec 12
23 Jan 16
20 Feb 16
19 Mar 16
02 Abr 16

Great fishing this past sunday. We dicided not to enter the billfish comp and tather enjoy some social fishing and get some fish for the pot.

We launched early (05:00) ahead of the comp party and went imediatly to Baixo Ribeiro to try and get some live bait.  The plan was quite simple: slash the couta proper! So I stole some sardines from peterblace, had my trusty rappies and speed pros ready, and took some HBs for later.

We found no bait at Baixo Ribeiro so proceeded to my couta grouds. My regular crew plus a guest (Pierre), wanted to try a bit of bottom fishing (despite being a spring tide with strong currents).
We got some nice fish and two kingies rounding up at 8 kg! Great fights! My brother even got reefed on a saragosa 8k full locked... probably a GT or king of some sorts... unstoppable!!!!

We run out of bait (didn't have more than 500 gr) and decided to target couta. Great fishing we had! In total we got 7 couta (5.5 - 8.5kg)... even a small GT (about 4 kg), which was released!

Trolled back with a spread of surface konas with HBs and stripbaits, but no luck.  Docked at 4 pm. Great day out (not too hot) and fresh fish in the table.

Summer is here!

eisha...can't disagree more on that

chillie...rainy...covered day...sun only showed up at 13:00 to warm up a bit

great catches on your side...congrats

for the comp which I attend aboard 4play it was a boring day
we launched at 5:30 and had lines in the water at 6:50 on the marlin grounds
we saw no birds...no bait...nada...not a single strike the all day
by 15:00 we were about to call the day out and I mentioned that rather keep fishing to try and get something for the pot then just heading back home
so getting at B24 at 16:15 and within 15min we were able to land 1x yft, 1x wahoo and 1x dorie
so in total nearly 9:30 of cruising
water temp never went over 24º

no radio comms the all day
