Seems to be some mixed results up there guy, I heard that the billfish bite has been hot off inhaca/maputo and there are some good results from some guys who found the fish and then nothing from the other guys, I suppose thats how it is. I am so desperate do come and do another Inhaca trip, we really must try and put something together.
Marcos / Pedro awesome reports and stick at it I know it will happen, its all about the hours on the water!!!

Look forward to seeing you buggers soon!!
Club Naval's bar...specially that lady that by mistake had a photo shoot with flsh is also looking forward for your visit
she's been asking...where's the handsome gentelman that took me a photo?...it's been 40y that someone took me a photo!!!!

in my case a billfish it's a bycatch...I'm not targeting them...but I know that everyone is going to the 400mt mark East of Liberty 2 mark (that cannyon you marked when you were here 2y ago)
JohnF mentioned all the fleet was throlling that area
:hehe: :hehe:  espécime velho adorável!
Eish Perhaps I should got to Maritimo!! LOL, mind you there are worse things there!!

Yip there are certainly some very interesting marks there, and we found some very nice areas when we were there last, just found them to late in the trip so we will spend more time there soon!!

:tite and :sreel:  and :billf: :sailf: . I am also launching on Saturday and hope to see you at the harbour. High @ 03h05 and 15h50, so water levels will not be a problem.Unlike you, I will only be fishing beyond Inhaca and not on the 300 m. I will settle for some nice  :cout: :dor: :gt: :yft: .
If things don't change, they remain the same.

weatherman played again with Maputo boat riders
forecast for yesterday was perfect with nearly no wind blowing…wrong guess…good weather in the morning and some SE blowing in the afternoon
we (Anouck (my girlfriend), JohnF and myself) decided to go for a spin aboard Maguro…we went around Xefina to end up finding out that my board engine is still not working properly
still don't know if it's electrical problems or dirty carbs…but been to many times out with the same problem…engine loose power and doesn't rev properly
it was a nearly 3h short ride…just cruising and relaxing (I wasn't so relaxed with engine problem…got to sort out that this week before next leg of Maritimo competition)
after we get out of the water we chafed for a while at the bar to decide whether to go out or not today
again weather man forecasted for today some 8-14knt gusts during the day
we decided to call during the morning and depending on the weather we would go out…either for a spin (MAXIMVS also needed to do some sea test after some repairs ls week in one of the engines)
by 7:20 we stared chatting and went to the club…to find out that sea was flat as anything and no wind was blowing…second wrong guess for the weatherman…and all in just one weekend

we were running against the tide…and by 9:10 we rushed to the water
plan was to go for a short ride to Bx Ribeiro (13nm from Naval) to catch some live bait and slow throll/drift in the area
getting there we couldn't find any bait activity..sounder as also not showing anything…so we were a bit scared as our plan was to fish with live bait only..and only a few rappies were aboard Maximvs
so after a few tries I was on…right next to bx Ribeiro "lighthouse/buoy"…so all the bait was hanging next to the wall
JohnF gave it a try and he was on as well…but not bait…he was fighting a proper fish…so I dropped my rod and started looking for the gaff…"where are the gaff's" I asked JohnF
ooopppssss…as mentioned before we rushed against the tide…so no gaffs aboard

it was a small kingy that snapped the sabiki right next to the boat

we collected our bait…and we were surprised with a curious attack of micro grouper
we had a good laugh…but we were there to fish…and started our drifts with 3 spinning kits
no luck at all at bx Ribeiro and JohnF suggested that we should try B4…we only had 100lt aboard and knew that we had extra petrol to give it a try at B4

we retrieve the bait and put some rappies on…it was a short 3.5nm to the destiny but on the way we saw plenty YFT activity at the surface and we tried our luck
rap pies….live bait…spoons…nothing…those tuna were not takers at all

getting to B4 we noticed a juvenile manta was playing around around our bait…and bait was getting scared…it was when we had our first strike…but unluckily not a taker…1mm from the hook…definitely a couta…according to the cirurgical cut our mackerel had
his head got aboard still shacking

we headed slowly to B4 and getting there JohnF found something on the sounder…I dropped the couta spoon to jig for a bit and I was on on the first drop
after a short fight we landed a small GT…and after a few shots we safely released it
we didn't took a chance to take the tape measure to measure it…but JohnF's guess is that fish weighted around 5kg
for me weighted way over 5kg…;)…a beast!!!!
I was happy for my first GT

we got back to B4 to give it a try again and 2 drops later I was on again…same behavior…same kind of fight…but after a few seconds fish got away…bad luck
and not 2 or 3 drops I was on again…but not for too long as leader snapped
after having a close look at the leader we realized that I was probably taxed by a couta…leader had plenty curls and teeth marks

we took out the bait (yah…during all this period we had 3 lines in the water with bait and not a single strike)…and headed towards bx Ribeiro for some 3 or 4 drifts on live bait…and 3 or 4 drifts on rappies before calling the day and head towards Club Naval

in total a 36.5nm on 80.5lt…I believe best outing consumption for Maximvs

a big thank for JohnF for the day…although no fish for the pot we had good fun and chatting

Third leg of the Ford championship was supposed to be held today. It was postponed due to a strong S wind predicted to get here at mid day. And it did indeed... Some guys were complaining yesterday, that the sea would be flat up to 12:00. It was, but when it changed it was quick and ugly! Glad it was moved to next saturday... As usual, today, time was spent getting stuff done on the boat, trailer, tackle and enjoying some old wors Prego brought last year!
