Well back in KZN and the outlook seems bleak for the next few days. Where's that sad face emoji? Anyway, we may try our luck a little later today,  but will probably end up just letting the kids boogie board and I will try and drag my tired carcasss for a gallop along the new beach walk.

Problem is in Hillcrest you can never really tell what is going on at sea and I have missed some days before where my weather app told me it was a no go and when we get to the beach it looks awesome!

Morning Stephen,

I see you launched quite late on Monday afternoon...
Any luck???

Good Morning & Merry Christmas to All.....

I hope the Festive Season has been good thus far.
Fishing has been good off Durbs, boated a few Dorries over the last week, here is a brief recap,

20.12.2019 - our first day launching since arriving in Durbs for our December Holiday, boated a nice Bull Dorado and called it a day....
21.12.2019 - boated 3 x Dorries, good sized ones as well... had a double up which created a bit of pandemonium with crossed lines etc. nothing like a bit of excitement...beached at 10h15.
23.12.2019 - landed and successfully released a really small Dorado, smallest I have ever caught....nothing else for the rest of the day....headed back to the club for lunch with the family.
24.12.2019 - had a double up and boated 2 x Dorries, we were back on the beach by 10h20

I must add that all our fish have been caught on live bait, on the drift @ the 50m mark....

Being Christmas Day, my crew and I decided it would be best to spend the day at Camp with the Family, so no Fishing today.....

Tomorrow is supposedly going to be a cracker of a day, so will give it a go again tomorrow...

Enjoy the Festivities and be Safe

I seemed to mess up my login and did not want to clear my whole inter webs cache (cookies) so did not report more while in KZN. That being said, we totalled three Dorados, 3 small Tuna, and also got a few sharks to the boat before cutting them off and hooked what I can only assume were Zambezies, off No1 as it felt like hooking the bottom.

We saw a turtle, light coloured (not sure if it is loggerhead or leatherback or some other variety) off LaMercy next to one of the ships, ran with common dolphins for a good few hundred meters, while we were heading to the drop off at Ballito, saw some big grey suites under the boat just off the harbour mouth.

Despite the family scoffing the fish at a rate of knots, I was able to bring a smallish coleman back full of fish, so that was mission accomplished.

Also super impressed with how frugal these suzuki motors are! I would say around 30% less fuel that the 40 strokes I have on the rubber duck.

Overall, it was a great time and while we could always have bought a few more fish, I am pretty happy that we are making progress. A long way from brilliant anglers, but at least doing better than we have previously so onwards and forwards.

To be honest, although the weather did not play game on most days, we had exceptional Fishing off Durban...
Made our trip down from JHB well worth it!

It's always nice to come back with some Fish in the hatch, nothing like fresh fish on the Plate for Dinner.
