So another lovely day on the water.

5 by 5 kg Yft.

Towed 2 around for hours and again a strike by most probably a shark and all off.

Then put Conas out and towed that for hours.

Another missed strike!

Awesome 3 days sitting around the fire now. Talking about what could have been.
Either I am fishing or dreaming of fishing!

Its been a bit quiet on this thread...had to go a long way down the list to find it ...Anyway launched from DSBC on a beautiful Saturday morning (you could tell the Boks were playing badly up until then, cause plenty boats launched). The water temp close in was only 20 deg C, so although I tried for  :dor: I didn't hold my breath, a  :yft: would be great anyway, but got neither.

I did manage 2x nice lucky (not for them) snoek though. We also stopped to watch three or four whales (from a long distance off), they were "playing", slapping tales and fins in one spot on top of each other for the longest time, which was great to watch on a flat sea.

Two very nice bull dorries of about 15kgs each did come out though, but apparently from faaaaar out :dunno: ....oh and small shad were full up on the bait spots.

Dorries are not actually early, we used to always get the first ones in September but for the last few years they have been late so in my opinion they are on time this year, I think with waters warming up nice and a good sardine run we in for a bumper season

Sunday "Three" species .....

We managed to take the gap in the weather on Sunday.  Started off early with a 2kg bonnie, that for some reason my crew thought was a 28kg tuna and was going to spool him... sry.

Then while fishing for snoek, we hook into about a 7kg hammerhead shark on a duster which revved us a bit. Finally just before lines up I hook into something decent on the backline,  :sreel: :sreel: :sreel: :fshn:, I expertly open the throttle and turn the boat and head for deeper water, while screaming to my crew to clear the other lines.. :sreel: :sreel: :sreel:, We get everything sorted and I start fighting the beast, "its got a bit of weight" I said to my first mate while pumping and reeling :fshn: :fshn:...."Don't force it!" was the advice from my crewman, gaff in hand...."its fighting funny" I replied ...."its on the top.." ......"what the hell is it?"......

Well we ended the day with 1x 2kg Bonnie, 1 x Hammerhead (released) and 1x Checkers packet,....pollution is real
