Hopefully the weather allows a launch this weekend. :fshn: :fshn:

I launched before light on Saturday only to be met with monster waved crashing over South Pier, tried south for snoek but the sea was too big, I then tried for a couta but sea 22deg and green, ended up fighting a monster grey for 45min, got it next to the boat all 3m plus, held vas and broke it off, that was my morning.

Sounds like a tough day at the office Chris.

Not much better down here the sea has been HUGE this past week and to make matters worse it's reverse current so the gamefish are missing. Seen one or two nice bottom fish coming out including a 20kg cracker over the past weekend for the guys who braved the massive swell.

Will be fishing Umkomaas Interclub next weekend so praying for the sea to settle and warm up for a few  :wahoo: :cout: :dor: :yft: :sailf:

I launched Friday morning in the dark got some bait then tried for snoek, managed one then tried for a couta without luck, was testing the new CID shiver stick on my 7' Amia heavy and stradic 5000 when a 14.5kg tunny decided to latch on, great fight almost got stripped twice but managed to get it on board. great day out.

(clap) Awesome Chris that must have been a jol on the light gear!

Down south we have been experiencing the most unbelievable couta run that I've seen in many years. The average size fish over the past 3 week period has been between 16-20kg and I reckon that over 30 have been caught over the easter weekend alone! It is a sign that the large bait balls that have been around here for the past 6 months have pulled in these fish and kept them fat and happy. We fished on Friday and got one of 20.8kg and my mates fished the weekend and ended up with one of 19.5kg and 28kg respectively! Here are some pics from the various boats on the weekend:

i entered the DSBC comp last week thursday and was given Yamaha 136.

I cant believe that there are so few entrys this year, in previous years they went up to 500 boats.

This year the number of boats has been reduced to 400 though.

Are you boys fishing the comp this year?

Eish not nice, hope he is ok :shk Good to see you yesterday, I was trying to tell you to come over, there was a bait ball getting whacked by shad and bonnies - great fun for the lighties with a spinning rod and a sprat spoon, I thought you were gapping it because of the wind.
