Launched as well yesterday to scatter my dads ashes and give the boat a run before comp. was nice day on the water and scattered ashes sea was very clean. Then did a slow tip home pulling konas and then switched to halos. No joy but was not really a fishing trip. Was awesome day on the water none the less.
Winching the boat up the cable snapped caught my brother on the cheek, lucky he had turned slightly and it left a small scratch on his cheek. Very lucky.

Eish, I'm always scared of that happening. Your brother is a lucky man, could've been a lot worse

Was out today and went up past Umdloti staying shallow, then took a trip around Mid Reef, went back to Umdloti and came back shallow. We got a few Yellowfin at Mid Reef area other wise no action at all.
Water is cold just over 22degC in the shallows and under 23degC deeper out.  Very green and dirty inshore till at least 50m depth where its starts clearing and at 70m it looks good and clean
In the 15-20m area from Umdloti till La-Lucia I saw a lot of big fish showings, all were hugging the bottom.
S-N current was screaming, SW was pumping up to 28knts, swells big deeper out but not so bad in the shallows.
Sure hope conditions improve for the comp this weekend.

Hello boys. Nothing to hide, we launched at about 08:00 with the SW pushing a little bit, and ran out to the platform where we ran with Fat Girl for a while. (Tried to get you on the radio Mike, but no response)
Anyway we then headed back to Umhlanga, circling a few ships and back to the club, beached at about 12:30.
A few beers and a cheeseburger was enjoyed for lunch followed by a decent power nap to round out the day.
Strikes=0
Hookups=0
Boated=0
The above result dispite one of the crew leaving a reasonable chum line :cnfzd  a night of Cane & coke doesn't help :hehe:

But great to be on the water again

We decided to get away from the crowds and headed South to port edward this weekend. Also wanted to get in a bit of practice surf launching the new boat and targeting a few species that would be in the comp this coming weekend.

We launched Sunday and as we got past the shark nets got hit by a buster and with the current running North South and a big SW blowing the sea turned ugly, so we turned around and were back on the beach within 30mins.

We launched yesterday as the guru had predicted a nice calmish day, but seems they got it wrong! We decided to stick it out and headed out to the wreck for some jigging! The sea was nasty out there and after three drifts we called it and came back inside.

We fished the 16Fa line off TO strand and were rewarded with a few fish! Got a tuna of about 17kg's, a nice bonnie of 7Kg's (which was released) and a catface rockod. all the usual bottoms baring the scavvies were very scarce and we battled! called it a day at about 11, and was nice to take the SeaCat 520 through the surf a couple times!!

Well done DB. You picked the right day to go fishing. That is a great snoek you got. Think I shall have to take a weekday off and chase them too.
