A mate Alan (not in pic) took his novice buddies out on Monday for some snoek, off Vaginia Beach.
**side note** you know your life is sad when you are forced to start posting your mates fishing pics to feel part of the fun

Had a great day on the water Saturday, found the snoek in one of my secret spots and had fun on light tackle, ranged between 2 and 4.8kg

Fished the Glenashley/LaLucia stretch for couta on Saturday, lost a bus YFT that almost spooled me and kinked the #4 wire :-( had one other pull where the hooks missed, also had my only mackerel chowed within seconds by this guy :unhap
Shad bait thick just inside the barge.......even stretched a few for a nice fish braai :hnthnt: All and all a great day on the water with fantastic water all the way up to Peace Cottage - just no couta!! :-)

I'll be there this weekend - fishing the DSBC interclub as team Shelly Beach. Going to bring two junior anglers with for some hands-on training. Looking forward to it! Have seen the weather has been pretty crappy this week so hoping the forecast lines up for the weekend. My mate Anton is fishing the Rosebowl there at the moment and he got a 20kg couta on 6kg line yesterday!

It looks like the sprats have arrived, I saw a good few pockets between Umdloti and Virginia today, this is a very good sign that things could pick up in the coming weeks, especially for couta and of course snoek, (as anyone who has caught snoek amongst the sprats will tell you - spoon mayhem!!)

We also saw plenty bait fish yesterday.
Lots of tuna breaking the surface aswell!
We couldn't hook and tuna if our lives depended on it! Fished for bottoms and managed one small slinger.
Had a k*K day on the water interms of catching fish, but great to be out..

Saw some lovely fish weighed at the dsbc interclub!

We fished the DSBC Interclub as Team Shelly Beach, I had two juniors with me as a development team. Saturday was a tough day with very sloppy NE conditions and cold green water. We had good livebait, couldn't find a yellowfin but found good water off umdloti and looked for a couta - no pulls but managed an amberjack on a live shad. Sunday was a lot better, smooth seas and a light SW throughout the day. We got a full livewell of shad and mackerel and found a nice yellowfin off Umhlanga on a live mackerel. We then ran shallow at Umdloti to look for snoek and found them in clean green water in the rips off the river mouth. We managed two very quickly and then went looking for a couta. They were eating the sard fillet baits flat out and if we had stayed we could have got a lot more. we went for couta later and couldn't find any pulls. Some very nice fish came out through the fleet with some guys running up to Zinkwazi each day and coming back with shoal sized couta and a big YFT (28,6kg). Some 30+kg tuna came out on the last day on the dolphins. Late on the Sunday a lot of wahoo and dorries came out at the ships especially the drilling rig anchored off Umdloti. All in all a great comp and I'm glad the lighties got to experience compo fishing.
