Umkomaas conditions already unpleasant, reported yesterday waves of 8-10ft at the mouth.

Here one of Feral's Dive Ducks (2 x 140 Suzi's) one of only two that felt comfortable to go out, launches through the mouth:

it's a commercially viable launch, but the skippers have got to be really top of the class to handle that sort of a sea
when I die, may my wife not sell my fishing tackle for what I told her I paid for it... and I have bought more, a severe case of TA

Good morning Gents, I need a bit of expert advice and local knowledge.
I need to fetch my boat down in DBN next weekend and NEED to test the new motors and WET a line.
Different sites forecast different things.
Now the thing is, what do you chaps think the weather will be like ? :dunno:

Hammer i'm leaving for Durban on Wed leaving Sun, also going to collect the boat. Staying in Salt Rock, where would be the best place to launch boat?

Hi LH, launch from DSBC, very easy and sheltered launch. The wife and kids can sit on the boat with you when the tractor puts you in. When you get back and beach, you and the wife and kids can have a nice chow at the club. You need to have a harbour disc to launch in the harbour.
It will be cool to get together, go for a fish and pretend we know what we are doing hahaha  :hyst:
I am sure a couple of the DBN boys will be around.

Ok great sounds good where is DSBC ? LOL quite right :hehe:  , don't want to bring down 2 tons of fishing kit so hopefully we can get a heads up in terms of what to target? I suppose the bottoms are always there however must admit with the wife & kids would prefer some trawling as they might go a bit  :cnfzd bottom fishing?

Bit to early to llok at next weeks weather so far looks shite, we normally decide by  Friday if the weekend is a go or not. Would agree that different sites have different forecast, confusing if you ask me. Think the oke at Guru is also a fisherman and when he wants to fish he updates the site to really nasty weather and keeps everyone shore bound, then on the day its perfect and has the ocean to himself, therre has been some days turned out a pearler but weather sites showed different.

You need your pink ticket for the harbour, but if SW is blowing, apparently it comes straight up the channel and harbour can also be very bumpy, would agree with Hammer arrange with the club to launch from their as a visitor, think the tractor fees arre R300 for visitors for launching and trailering, and some marks not far if you taking wife and kids. Hopefully with the big cold front coming through this weekend it brings warmer water as water temps are sitting at  17/18 degrees surface and 14/15 on bottom and fish  have gone into hiding, been three weeks now shorebound so betters wether must roll in... If weather starts looking good you will find us down there.

Think that sat and sunday should be fair, but as Umpa Lumpa said, the weather report changes every time you look.

L Hooker if you taking your family out, go to the bait marks either the Barge or cassions. There are a lot of shad around and they should have fun.
If you put out a live bait you could pick up a nice Tuna.

Think Umpa Lumpa and myself should be out so keep an eye out for us.
Boat is Strike Craft.
