Ok that was what I paid for my 1000 a year or so ago so I'm sure they have gone up since then.

On my first (surprise) outing to the deep I also got a proper hiding from the Bonnies and Yellowtail Tuna on a slade and light braid ;-) still was fun, and luckily my slade held up.

Sad thing is that the slade have been discontinued ;-( It was the strongest and best "budget" reel around!

If you guys want to look more at the budget range, go and have a look at the Daiwa Regal ... also a proper reel for the price.

R370 on www.fishingtackle.co.za for instance at this link:
http://www.fishingtackle.co.za/Daiwa-Spinning-reels/Daiwa-Regal-5iA-Model-RG-2500-5iA-reel.html?flypage= but I'm sure you can get a better price if you shop around a bit.

its been replaced by the sienna, same basic design but it has an extra bearing and a propulsion line management spool (tapered lip) and its the same price as the slade! Iv got 2 slades and a sienna :) The slades dont last long after the first fifty kilos of geelbek for a morning
