yebo Reefs...I'm using the gopro on the pole stick (home made...got a gardenia pole and attached a rollbar mount to it)
then when there's action I just start the camera and film either the action in the boat and the UW when fish gets closer
basically when I'm watching the video (super slow motion) I pause and take stills from that...no editing after...all natural

I was just chatting to Prego that I'm loving the pole more then the trollpro...I'm thinking of selling the trollpro as I've been playing way more often with the pole then with the trollpro...trollpro it's nice when there's action...but UW you never know when you will have that

I recently bought the special diving housing for the HD Hero 2 and that also makes a big difference on the UW footage...there's plenty more light going for the video as on the Hero 3...although I reckon the Hero 3 also have automatic white balance and some other stuff better for UW

Nice report mate!!

yesterday went out with 3 elements (Andre, Luis and Fabio) from one of my sw providers
first time for them in the deep blue and fishing...and first time for me taking more then 3 aboard maguro

weather forecast was awesome with nearly no wind during all the day...and flat seas
we launched at 7:30 and were running against the tides...tide was already going out for nearly 4h
it was a smooth ride untill we got to the Inhaca banks where we hit a big swell...and newbies got a bit scared...but all we went well and by 9:00 we were on the fishing grounds
plan was to try some drifts in Jeremias and after all calm down set for some trolling

getting there and while looking for some showings I spotted some bird activity and some tuna smacking at the surface...we went there and on the first cast I was on
because this was a day for my mates I immediatly set the hook and hand in the rod to Luis
after a short fight we landed a small bonnie
we went after them again and another cast and another hook up...same as before...and another bonnie was landed by Fabio

then all went quiet and fish dove down...so no more fish and birds...so I decided to stick to the plan and set the traces with portuguese sardine and ballons and started working the area
we waited till 9:45 for the first strike...I cleared the one line and set the hook...and handed in the rod to Andre who was green since the beggining
no long after we landed a 6kg cuta...for the first time they could hear the screaming reel and realized what's our passion
while setting the lines back and with the baloon only 10mts away from the boat reel start screaming...I shouted at Luis who was on the wheel...don't touch the accelerator...and when looked at him he was very shy saying...I did nothing bru!!!!
that's when I realized that we were on and I had a massive wind on on the reel...eisha...sorted out the wind on...setup the hook and handed in the rod to Luis
after a longer fight we landed a 9kg cuta
I setup again with the 2 lines out and we didn't wait too long for another strike...and it was Fabio's turn
same process as before and we were on...this time it was taking longer to get to the fish...but Fabio managed well and after a few play around/under/behind the boat we manage to land a 15kg cuta
all setup again to have a last strike while drifting...Luis managed to see a nice aerial and a splash...I only managed to see the splash...and for the second time a twisted wire at the end of the line
what's the tip for a proper hook up on a billie with traces?? (in case a twisted trace = billie)

all went quiet untill 11:30 and we decided to give trolling a try...Andre and Fabio were too green and we already had some fish in the hatches so no need to get them even more sick
so I set up all and we started trolling North to go all the way to B24
on the northern points of Jeremias we had a very shy strike on one of the rappies...and after clearing the lines I handed in the rod to Andre who landed another 5kg cuta
then all went dead and by 14:00 I suggested to clear the lines and head towards Portuguese Island for a deserved picninc
as this was their day and I wanted to introduce them to fishing I didn't want to make it hard and extend the day to the limit...main objective was tthat all of us could have some fun

water temperature was 25º and water was green and dirty all over...maybe also the reason why the sonar couldn't have readings over 40/50mts when trolling at 6knt...I have had readings at this speeds at 140mt
sea was flat and we had a smooth ride back to Maputo where we got at 16:45...not before spinnig for a bit in the 3M area when we saw some tuna action...but this time no takers
in total we did 75nm on 135lt

matabicho also yesterday and worked the area next to me...they caught 2 small YFT and 2 small cuta
spearos went out on Saturday and came back with a saily

during the week we got the good news from the minister of work declaring a full day public holiday for Friday
in Moz we normally only have 1/2day off for Good Friday...I guess that because we are on elections year they give us this...it's the 3rd time this year we have had that...and I guess there's more long weekend ahead of us that there's a big chance of getting some more days off

so I decided to launch Saturday for a fishing day with Fabio (rookie from last week) and João (1st timer)
weather forecast was supposed to be great with little to no wind...supposed is the right word...
launched at 6:45 and the moment we went trough Xefina we started hiting big swell and wind from the North
soon I decided to make an alternate plan and head towards Portuguese Island to dry and relax a bit...and the moment we find a gap we would head out
it's not summer anymore and although air temp was gona go up to 30º...it was a bit chillie and at 7:30 we were wet from head to toes...water temp around 24.5º
so we got dry and decided to give it a try in front of Inhaca in Banco Xina where occasionaly guys catch some stuff...set the drifts and we stayed there till nearly 9:30 when I decided to head towards St. Maria for a beach day and eventualy, weather permiting, cross Hells Gate at tide change (12:00)
getting there we dropped anchor at the Inhaca reserve and spend a couple of hours with a couple of friends where we saw some fish by the rocks and a pack of 6 squid...first time I saw squid in the water...nice to see them changing colors and swiming in group
by 12:00 and after a look at Hells Gate I decided to give it a try and head out
it was a sweet cross with nearly no waves and jsut after the backline I set some rapies and daisy chain and started trolling
water was dirty but you could see the clear water line...and that's where I headed
after a few moments we were on on a garfish...but soon he got away
not lonfg after and without noticing (no strike) we got a small bonnie...I immediatly took all the lines out and set for drifting with that bonnie and 1 dead sardine
I was still setting the drift when the bonnie got excited and started to try and go...and vaz...I was on...and off...taxed by I don't know what...bonnie gone...set only the daisy chain and went looking for some more bonnies
and found them...another one without a strike
this time I rigged it and went straight to Bx Sta Maria where I set the drift again...1 live bonnie and 1 dead sardine...and not long after same beahviour as before but this time we saw the bill and a saily...
this time I easyed the drag...and let the bonnie run a bit more then when I set the drag and grabbed the rod saily took the bonnie line to the bottom and off...didn't hook up and bonnie was taxed
I guess I'm doing something wrong as it's the 3 time this happen to us in 3 outings
I decided to set the drifts in Bx St Maria with dead sardines and we stayed till 14:00 without any action...although showings were showing some activity at the pinnacle
then I set some rappies and daisy chain again and starter working the border line between dirty and clear water...up and down and by 14:45 saw some bird and tuna activity on the 70mt mark out of Bx St Maria and headed that way
first time over and we were on on the daisy chain...handed in the rod to Joao and cleared the other lines and after some explanation João landed his first fish ever...a bonnie that we safely released
all set again and on the second time over on again on the daisy chain...Fabio's time and due to line slack we lost it...so all setup again...and 3rd time over on again...daisy chain and 2 rapies...a triple strike
cleared the one line and we all start fighting the fish...Fabio landed the first fish...a small YFT...then João...another bonnie that we released...then it was my turn to land another YFT
by this time Kambaku that was already heading back home noticed that we were having some action and "invaded"  our spot...and called the Yolanda that was in the area
so not much room for 3 boats to work the birds and the tuna...
after one more try and by 15:15 we decided to head back home...we still had a long way back home
it took us 1:30 from Bx St Maria all the way to Naval...with a small incident on the the canal (Inhaca/Sta Maria)
tide was still very low and I deviated a mere 15mt from the line...and at 23kt I hitted the sand banks with just ~50cm of water...eisha...I thought we were stuck and we had to wait till higher water to be able to get back to Maputo
we all jumped off and push the boat to the line again and start our way back this time going over the line and without deviation
at the end of the day guys were happy with the experience...although Joao is sick due to the wind and wet ride...

I also planned to spend the day with Anouck at the beach on Sunday but she's recovering from a flu so we canceled

Any one got news from the Inhaca Challenge? \

From the points table I've seen, seems it was either slow going or many blow out days  :dunno:
