Launched yesterday for a quick 5 h session at Jeremias.... got a nice 10 kg YFT and dropped another (bloody treble gave up!) on an x-rap silver...

Flat seas and LOT's of whales all  over and a few turtles... almost run over a lazy leatherback. Temps were 21.4-23.4o C...

Old age, that's what happened! Got back, processed the fish, washed the boat and hit the sack! I was finished! Lol! (Also, lost bbm service)!

Only sushi (rubberduck). They went to the maputo river mouth. They got small breams, kob and rockods... and 2 big "snakes" (eels)...
We were the only boat out

Launching tomorrow at sunrise... Team Maximvs will be the Pereira brothers only  :rck"

Forecast looks good (flat in the morning and swinging to easterly in the afternoon to swiftly bring us back) and the water temp is just below 24o C....

Plan is simple... catch live bait at Baixo Ribeiro and then run North to serve then coutas some breakfast...  :cout:

On the way back will go a bit deeper and try for some tuna, maybe a dorrie and who knows what else...

I'm very new here, but have read every post in the Moz section, great stuff.
John, if I may ask a dumb question. Most of my fishing will be out of Maputo in the Inhaca area. I have just relocated to Nelspruit, so that makes it quite convenient. Would you say that my cat C COC is good or should I upgrade to Cat B to get to all the good areas you guys mention in your updates?

Welcome to UA!

We operate in a different system here. The local maritime authority doesn't really care about the SA cat B, C etc...

All you need to produce is list of safety equipment (http://www.ultimateangling.co.za/index.php?topic=651.0) and your paperwork and you should be fine...

What boat do you have? Most spots are reachable by even the smallest boats and your fuel capacity would probably be the deciding factor...

I have an 18'6" Ace craft with 2 x 75 mercury 2 strokes.
That's great news, so the Cat C doesn't restrict you to 15 nm in Moz?

By papers, I assume you mean Buoyancy certificate, Seaworthy cert and Skippers license. Is there anything else?

Those are the papers... also carry your passport (goes without saying) and you should also get a fishing license.

Technically, all recreational skipper's licenses are restricted to 10 nm from land. That means even if you launch from Maputo, and you are at Baixo Danae (27 nm from Maputo) you still legal cause you are only 4 nm from Inhaca. So your boat should be fine.
