No more belgas please as I still have, the wife says I'm getting  fat!! In return you can buy lunch at Pestana on the 30/3  :crzy

Something tells me that the weather has been off now that we resort talking about wors and biscuits  :hehe:

NE wind caused the comp to be postponed from tomorrow to Sunday.

All systems go! 19:00 h I was sorting my live-bait circle hooks and peterblace challenged me to source some fresh HBs. Sent an sms to my supplier and 15 min later we had 3kg (40!) of the most shiny, fresh and succulent HB! Marinating now and Sunday they will be ready to find their way into greatness!

Bring it on!

Ps: peterblace, better hurry up with those cuban stogies!

so..I'm buying fresh new cubans..but I'm the one winning..old and dry ones..that's not fair
for those who don't know we made a bet..a set of cuban cigars for the crew of the boat that catch the first bill
neither maximvs nor maguro ever landed a bill..so we have a (very friendly) challenge

Hoping to do a bit of "bottoming" tomorrow... Let's see how/if the weather holds...

We (peterblace and JohnF) launched at 8:00 on Maximvs and had to negotiate the low tide at the ramp. But the 170 horses got us out. The ideia was to do a quick bottoms trip to some near reefs in the area know as 3M. Tide was supposed to turn at 9:15 and we had just enough time to get there and explore the reefs.

Water temp was 25.7o C and progressed to 26.2 along the day. A nice SE breeze and overcast sky kept us cool and out of the canopy. The predicted rain gave us a miss and it turned out to be a lovely day at sea.

We got some nice bottoms (about 6 species and well below our quota) and I managed to test my release clip on two small fish - works like a charm!

We chased the famous 3M jumping tuna with spoons and peterblace managed to hook and land a nice bonnie (6.5 kg) on a popper! Great fight on his little spinning setup!

No pics take but the GoPro was there and hopefully peterblace will manage to edit a nice vid.

We got back to the club at 16:00 with a light easterly.
Another great, relaxed day out!

all said by JohnF

appart from beating Marcos on the species and number of bottoms caught the big goal of the day was to land one of the illusive 3M tuna
area was wild all the way from middle of the bay to 3M...large groups of tuna jumping wild...birds all over
we tried spoons, poppers, stickbaits, feathers, live bait (not this outing), rappies (not this outing) and NADA...they just don't take anything

this time we were next to them and trowing poppers at them...and I was lucky to properly hook one up...on the side...that was a nice fight

I will try and look at the vids and edit them tonight

thanks again for the wonderful day spent out in the blue

------------------update---------------
after a long waiting period I finaly took some time to edit the videos

We blanked!!! So frustrated! Spent about 2 h looking for bait! Got to the spot only at 9 nish and Maguro was already there taking all the fish! They did well with 2 wahoo, couta and even a nice 5 kg yft head! We lost one fish and that was it! It went dead. Looked for bills but nothing!

Note to self: if you can find bait don't look too hard for it!!!

Well done peterblace and Prego!

Ps: weather was excellent, as predicted.

Sea is so flat it is actually unbelievable!

Daughter's 9th b-day today, so busy with logistics.

It seems like tomorrow will be the same. Going out tomorrow with a full crew (1+4!)! Bit of live-baiting for couta and some bottoms...

Hoping to do a bit of catching! Enough with this 'blanking' curse!!!
