I see "WindGURU" predicts 3 - 9 knt wind, NE - E. Should be good.

NE/E with out going tides generates some interesting sea conditions in the bay!!! Washing machine!

Should be ok...

We ready... Camera's battery is double charged, drinks are in the fridge, strip baits are processed! Let's rock&roll!

Another disappointing day in the big blue!

Started with a general power failure in Maputo. No power the whole weekend! Launching boats without the electric winch prevented/delayed the larger boats. No problem for us.

We were first in the water and slowly made our way to Clube Maritimo to join the rest of the fleet and wait for the starting shot. Water temp was 25.5 and progressed to 26.3 C along the day. The NE created the typical choppy conditions Maputo bay is famous for and we avoided it by going to Inhaca island and then turning E/NE. The "cockcurn washing machine" was horrible and extensive, we heard from other boats.

Anyway, we took our time and by 7:00 we had just finished putting lines in the water, when "Mon Ami" called in with a release of a sailfish!

We carried on with our plan of spending the day in the deep. Only action we had was a queen dorado of 11 kg the whole day! Nice jumps and all but it was not a bill! Various boats got bills and several got nothing!

This is a really frustrating fishery. We did 95 nm and used 244 L of fuel and did 30 nm in waters deeper than 400 m.

I think I'll have to come up with a better plan. Already working on it...

Yeah, it's long hours out there with nothing but flying fish and deep blue water (and plenty of fuel)...

as JohnF mentioned weatherman failed again on his forecast...another miss wet t-tshirt all the way out...with Cockburn area being really hard to handle

just after the washing machine area...with some "OMO" waves hitting us...we saw some bird activity close to Bx Danae area...we put some lines in and by 7:05 we had a double strike of YFT...one of them going mad and jumping like a dorie

again we missed a pair of hand aboard Maguro...we were both fighting the fish, boat was drifting and some waves hit us...but we sorted out between us to bring both fish aboard
we managed to land 2 small 4kg YFT
on the way to B24 and not long after we had our second strike...and another YFT was landed...a bit bigger then the previous

and not long after we were on again...but unfortunatelly and after some "air gaffing" from my decky fish dove too fast into the props and line snapped...it was a nice size YFT

so I keep my 1 lost lure ratio per outing...this time due to line cut and not the usual line snapping...and that was the most productive lure for the day...a purple Halco Max with 3 YFT on

bird and bait activity was wild on Eastway, Bx Danae and B24 area...but from 9:00 onwards we had just a nice ride on the deep blue
we travelled 94nm on 165lt between B24, B45, Liberty2, B24, Jeremias and back to B24...
on the way home and on our last try around Eastway we had 5 missed strikes on a white/blue/red 5" alien kona...one of them a toothie as the heat srink had some toothie marks

and for my surprise close to portuguese island we had a very long strike...I thought that by the run it was a nice size couta...but after a nice fight we landed the smallest YFT of the day...rsrsr...definetely ate spinach for breakfast...we nearly got spooled and had to chase him with the boat

for the 2nd leg:
musaya 3 marlin
mon ami 1 marlin 1 saily
dafy 1 marlin
chakra 1 marlin
dan dan 1 saily
I believe I'm missing something here...but JohnF can help me with that

Seems to be some mixed results up there guy, I heard that the billfish bite has been hot off inhaca/maputo and there are some good results from some guys who found the fish and then nothing from the other guys, I suppose thats how it is. I am so desperate do come and do another Inhaca trip, we really must try and put something together.
Marcos / Pedro awesome reports and stick at it I know it will happen, its all about the hours on the water!!!

Look forward to seeing you buggers soon!!

Club Naval's bar...specially that lady that by mistake had a photo shoot with flsh is also looking forward for your visit
she's been asking...where's the handsome gentelman that took me a photo?...it's been 40y that someone took me a photo!!!!

in my case a billfish it's a bycatch...I'm not targeting them...but I know that everyone is going to the 400mt mark East of Liberty 2 mark (that cannyon you marked when you were here 2y ago)
JohnF mentioned all the fleet was throlling that area...aparently there's no structure there...just deep water
