The champ is here, the champ is here  :hehe: :hehe: :hehe: :hehe:

Back in JHB after a hectic working weekend with a great day on the ocean with a great person.

Firstly I would just like to thank Peterblace for arranging for me to join him on his friend Miguel's boat "Oba Oba" and arranging the customary fishing licence which I forgot to re-emberse you for  duh ( I will sort that out with you in the next week or so up north) it was a great pleasure to join you guys.

Well as Peterblace says we got together the Friday & Saturday night for a meal and to sample the local brew obviously  and I must confess you have now converted me from 2M to Laurentina Imperial (draught). I apologise if I was awning at the table but I was finished I don't even work that hard at my factory and add 35c temp and 75% humidity  but thanks again for being such a gracious host and great company and friend. On Saturday evening after during dinner we were discussing snacks for the boat and Peter mentioned that he was still going home to make a chocolate cake and some crossaintes to bring on the boat.

Well whan I awoke at 4am I had received an email with the proof  :+ cred: Peterblace or should I say Jamie Oliver  :hehe:

UA is a great brotherhood... :+ cred:

I have just heard the rumors that John F is doing is first buoyancy test on MAXIMVS...I hope all goes well

Great to see you Prego, even for only 5 min! Really sorry I couldn't spend more time with you guys, but you're to blame for not letting us know beforehand that you'd be coming!!!

The last few days have been hectic and work on the boat is going well! Deck's closed and now it's final prep for the paint job.

As for my fishing report... Not much to say, actually...

Was invited to provide some "mentoring"... Well at the end of the day I ended up providing ice, rods, lures, bait, rod buckets, GPS, even a fish pacifier!

Fishing was good considering... We lost about 7 fish of which 3 good ones... Mostly due to a very strange technique by my "pupils", which of course would not listen to an old silverback like me....

At the end of the day we had a good wahoo 18 kg (on one of my DIY lures - really happy about it! - on my okuma T50W - thanks Tunaman!); a dorado 7.6 kg (halfbeak and kona) and other smaller stuff... Never had a billy close by although all the guns were out there...

It was good to be out again but really miss being on MY ship! Oh, one more thing... No more mentoring for me!!!!

That hoo and the 2 bigger Dorados that I and Peterblace fought were hard work on the Noahs Ark reel, 2 forward one back  :hehe: :hehe:

The Wahoo was caught on a Manns deep diving lure, and the Dorados on Pulsator Conas and Ilander lures, interestingly enough the skipper choose to have birds in front of the lures out wide but no strikes on those :dunno:

In the end I had a great day with some good fish, fantastics snacks on board a comfortable boat  and  awesome company  :tkx: Team Moz

Hey Marcos sorry about that but it was very last minute decision to come through, thanks for the lift to the club. BTW sorry we beat your fish by 900grams  :crzy :hehe: :hehe:

Some day soon I will join you on Maximus so we can choose what lures we would like to run where  :hehe:

Yes Reefs I'm really in the clouds with this one...

I was running it in the left rigger (short) and had a large bright red bird in front... was doing 9 kts at the time.... the pics are mostly of the lure and don't do justice to the fish! Maybe I'll get some pics from the rest of crew...

Great run, but that Okuma has power, I tell you that!

@Prego: great fish man! That's a bus! Well done! You'll be most welcome to fish aboard the gladiator! And I can assure you there will be PLENTY of lures to choose from  :hnthnt:
