As stated before, I am all for the suatainable use of resources but the flagrant disregard for the law is unacceptable and if we stand by and do nothing we are as guilty.... thus I applaud RobinF and those opposing this... (clap) ... thanks from those of us not able to act. You are protecting our resources and :+ cred: too.

Thanks UA for the support.

We are taking a long hard look at these guys and I am waiting for some info and photo's to come in. We will do what we can to raise hell about it as soon as we have some ammunition.

@ Chris, I will be glad to meet you anywhere along the Virginia, Glenashley, La Lucia stretch to give you some stickers to spread around.

More and more, we are seeing a willingness amoungst communities and anglers to start standing up against this sort of blatant disregard for the laws governing our marine resources and with the social networks as a tool getting the message out has become so much easier. There are people out there willing to take a stand even if they do get threatened.

These netters are sitting pretty because they are very well connected, both in the municipality and local government and also amoung the competitive angling community. They are the major supplier of Bay Squid, The "magic bait" which they sell for anything between R30 and R35 a unit.

There are a load of rumours and accusations which keep resurfacing over and over agian and we will need to get confirmation on these and then get the details published and present what we can gather to James Woods at MCM.

If anyone has any info they would like to pass on, please mail it to me at mysticpixie1@yahoo.com

@ Robinf, I agree, we will not stand down. Thanks for the support.

Last year the seine-netters killed  and sold about 100 spawning Ox-eye Tarpon. When Morgan Subramoney was informed that these were the breeding stock, he proceeded to swear at and insult this person. This gent would later be threatened and told that he could be 'taken out'.

As for the Garrick, an update is that it was 40 the one day and two days later 77. Morgan sold them from the back of a bakkie to the public! He also issued no invoices, so he made hard 'under the table' cash.

Mystic,

I have a load of additional info and I have met an ARMY of people in high places that are stewing over this. Tomorrow I will send some info to you. I will give you strategic suggestions on how to move forward from your side. You cannot approach this like everyone has done and failed. There is a way, I am already well on that 'way', but by bringing all the parties together, you will be standing there with an Army of guys that WILL NOT WALK AWAY! Even if he brings his gun, he won't have enough bullets, I promise you.

Will send tomorrow.

BTW - you are going to be shocked how much support I have and how much you will have.

This is far from over.

This is true. But all the competitive anglers are conservationists (or should be) The bay squid have been there since I was a kid. I and used to go down with my dad and suck them out the corner of the net, dont think they are being threatened. Its more about the illegal catchers that are being kept and sold.
A bad days fishing is better than sitting at home moping.
