Guys I had an EPIC day out at sea !

Now the ride out was Knopperig and swell bigger that We expected, I was on baord with three very experiacaned Skippers , We were 1 of 4 boats out , Legasea [comms ] Rusvic [Comm We never saw then And think they went to Vlakbank then it was us and another recce . waters colour in the Shallows was BAD a green dirty colour Temp was down to 21 .2 / 22 Degrees in these areas shallow . We then moved over a very strong current , and were amazed about the water colour all of a sudden , they explained this is typical of Sailfish break line [ but no Sailie here ]  we ran further got some raps out in search of Tail , ths did not last long , as the swell was big , and the raps well just didnt cut it . We whent past a couple of Tjokka boats , saw the 1 Coms out , and he called us over to say we must sneak up right close , there got good fish under them . Fisrts Drop on the Jig VAS , ths was a DONKIE , I lost that battle , gave a damn good fight , I was just not Warmed up . next drop VAS , this contiued , had multiple triple ups , till tallies was full for the four of us on Tail  , we got Two 'rats ' and the rest very good fish , with a couple of real aove average fish  , It when quik . Got the riggers out , proceeded South , got Makaira another out of Town boat , in Struis for the MArln Tourney .
Oh I just want to add , we got all those fish on Jigs , and on Anchor , we also then had a Tail Livie out , big circle aa balloon , we got TAXED by a  what was believed was a Mako , sommer vinnig . next one out [ seeing than livebaits e abundant today LOL  oh the temp was also up to in some places close to 25 degrees , but the areas we had luck in was n the 23 / 24 .3 degrees of water . We trolled to a few marks that has been producing Marlin of Late , Down south up to another place which I cant  mention here , as its easy to find , and I value my life to much HA HAHA
The only other action there were , was a bull Dorado , apparently a very good sized one at that , 10 to 12 kgs , Neil landed this one , and its seems purple with a Dash of Pink in you Konas are a FAV .

I will post some Vids , of me getting JIGGY with it .

The rest of the week looks bleak for any seadays

Too tired to carry on fishing at the moment, so the weather is a nice break. Every trip has seen potential limits of tail and school yellows up to 50kg. We have normally stopped after 4 of each and released from there. Another stripey released yesterday off the point. On fire :happ:

Don't know what the weather is going to do to the fish.

Went a bit off shore on Saturday, just outside Gordonsbay harbour.
We got a lot of small shad- juvenile 10- 15 cm
We also got 25+ small cob biggest was 470mm and smallest 150mm.( Nice fun but nothing for the pan. ) :-(
Got a couple of different Sharks, small bronzie, stripe cat shark ext.
We lost a big fish twice that took a live maasbanker , but the hook just didn't set, the first time we got the maasbanker back and you could see on the teeth marks that it wasn't a shark, but second time round all off.
And I found out how it feels when a barbells pen get hold of you. Not something I want to experience any time soon again. :unhap
But it was great to be on the water again and to see all the fish in False bay, as we got visit 3 time by a huge shoal of dolphins

The Point is on fire after these westerlies. Went out yesterday and had tail, yellows and longies all around the boat and all on light tackle.
Herewith TM3 with his first longie on a spinning stick.
Also lots of bigger yellows out at the canyon. Heard of a pole boat that had an epic day yesterday!
Guys queueing up to fish Thurs - Sat this week.

I cannot remember a season as good as this!  :nobs:

The yellows have stayed with us since October and are still firing! The last week has seen an epic bite. The yellowtail are feeding like mad at the Point / Bellows / Anvil - crack of dawn til 09.30 and then again 15.00- 17.00. They are on anchovies so the small spinner works well. Had 10 fish in 10 minutes on the boat the other day!

Plenty of decent size longies at the first ammo dump and then from there to the West to the straight numbers, where the medium yellows are in abundance. Flat seas and calm weather have seen plenty of boats come right and given many guys the chance to see fish in the slick. Fish from gas bottles up to 60kgs.

We have had enough of the run of the mill so carried on in our experimental vein.
This time we ran to the canyon and did daytime deep dropping. Unfortunately we only had time for one drop as the next 2.5 hours were spent fighting our first bite!
130kgs of big eye. (126.7 on the scales 5 hours later).
This has taken a couple of years of trial and error, but what a pleasure when a plan comes together! Was taken at 450m in 520 depth.

Awesome Catch TM...Are you sure thats a big Eye...looks like a bluefin at first glance. Very hard to distinguish between the two but I suppose being there and with your experience it must be a Big Eye.

Well done again :-)
