Nyati Lodge Moz
« on: March 13, 2012, 10:09:36 AM »
I was watching first "Off the Chart Adventures" and than later on Tommo's "Inside Angling" on TV. Both the programs were filmed at Nyati Lodge in Moz. So last night I was thinking must be a fantastic trip and started dreaming about going there. WOW have you seen the price of accomodation, nearly fell of my chair. It will cost me and Ramona R20000-00 just for accomodation and meals for 5 days  :shk . Dream turned inti nightmare  :hehe:

Willie,

Know the feeling. When planning our recent trip I originally looked at a place where we could combine off-shore and R&S fishing and having see the Off the Chart show I immediately looked up that place.

Would have set us back about R 5-8 k more each  :cnfzd  :shk

I would still like to go ther one day, but for now it is only dreams

Now that's just plain stupid. R20,000??? I hope for their sake that their international visitors and wealthy Sa visitors continue supporting them because if they don't who do they think will keep them going.

The sad thing for me is that it seems to be such great fishing spots but there is no way I can afford it because where are you going to get accomodation. :-(

Moz prices are generally rediculous for what you get, reed accomodation and potluck harvest from the sea!

For similar you can visit Mauritius or Seychelles price of airfare included.

For those who have not been there, and think Mauritius is nice, give Seychelles a try. Its breathtaking.

Big organised fishing excursions in Seychelles is expensive but if arranged locally on moderate local boats, very affordable.

Holy   :cout: that's madness.

Agree Nyati seems an amazing destination but I reckon you can get the same quality fishing from a place like Pomene accessible to us mere mortals. They accomodate campers too and its a great rock & surf and off shore destination.

:shk  I must be honest, I don't enjoy watching fishing shows anymore, they showcase these amazing destinations and show you the fish life there, but when someone who actually has to pay want to go there it is impossible. But Moz is gettting very expensive...

Places like Nyati are expensive because it cost the owners millions to build there. They are secluded and the only way to get there is by boat. The same goes for all the other resorts on the other islands in the Archipelego. Can you imagine just the cost of transporting all the building materials to get these places built?? :cnfzd

If you stay on the main land in Vilanculos it will cost you R400 pppd at many a great establishment, why because building materials are easier to get, only problem is the fishing from the main land is just about none existent. So now you must charter a boat to get to these out of reach places.

So its expensive yes, but not unreasonable!!

Agree Prego but it is only for those who realy can afford it. (Maybe that is why the fishing is good not many can go there to fish  :hehe: ) If you go the private game parks it is so expensive that only the wealthy can afford it and they are booked Leopard Hills was something like R6000-00 pppd.
