Had two days on the water on Tycoon off Richards Bay with awesome blue water pushing in over the 50m line and improving every day. Went deep on the first day and found good flying fish and birds on the 1000m line where we landed a 25kg  :dor:  Dorado and a 65 kg  :yft:  Yellowfin. Had a marlin in the spread but no strike.
Second day we went deep again looking for some more fish for the pot and hooked a bus Yellowfin that spooled the 130lb. Unfortunately the hooks pulled close to the boat after a very strong fight on solid drag. Didnt see the fish but it had to be in the 80 -100kg class judging by the fight. We only did a half day which didnt leave much time out there but there are certainly some quality fish out there. The boat Madness dropped two marlin on Friday and released one on the inside on Saturday so the season is off and running very nicely and should only improve with each day this current establishes itself!
Tite lines all! :billf: :billf: :billf:

Nice fish there Trevor!! The fish are coming through thick in Sodwana the marlin boats are getting fish everyday, Paul and john went 7/1 yesterday on sailfish, so a bit of work to be done there, but good to see the fish are moving through. I finish packing this week!!  :happ: :happ:

Was out yesterday on Reel Time looking for a  :billf: blue on 30 lb with no luck. sry  Was hesitant to go out with the overcast rainy conditions but the itch :craz:  was too great.
The very dark day may have had a lot to do with the results but the water was up to 24,5 and there were some birds and flying fish. Still no bonnies or bigger bait and we didnt go deep to the Yellowfin with the light  :fshn: tackle. Sun out this morning and a few boats out, will update later. :rck"

Eish! duh
Definitely chose the wrong day to go to sea yesterday. Plenty action out there in the sunlight today. Galavant had 2 stripes :billf: :billf: up and a sail :sailf: but dropped them while Captain Fine caught 2 big yellowfin of 80 :yft:  and 90 :yft:   kgs and dropped a marlin. The :billf:  action is definitely hotting up. Spent the day productively though and gave Reel Magic a major cleanup. Definitely would have preferred being at sea though...gotta do what you gotta do!  Eish again!

What a way to open the season.. Learning to fish by brail..rain wind and rough seas. Had the proverbial Sh.t kicked out of us yesterday in pelting rain and a SW squall that had us running for cover on a big boat! Electing to do it all over again this morning with an American client Rick Newman who showed more balls and guts than I have seen in local guys to brave the elements again after feeling the effects the day before. Cancelled his game reserve reservations for another mauling at sea    to get the marlin he so badly wanted. He who perseveres wins they say!Opened the season as we did last year with the release of a 500lb blue, released another 300 lb Blue and dropped a nice Stripey..The new Big T prototypes doing the damage again.  (clap)
Awesome day! Cant imagine how good its going to be when we get some weather to really fish in!!
ps raining again!

Forced our way out yesterday on the big boat with 4-5 meter swell, rough south sea and rain....and then deployed 30 lb outfits only??! Ran a teazer to get something sizeable into the spread to get a fish up in the darkness. Not a tactic I enjoy but necessary due to the conditions.
Wasnt long before we were scrambling to get it out the water as a nice :billf: Stripey did a good job of making it look decidedly second hand. Fish turned behind the short and waved goodbye! Just the reason why I dont like teasers..Shortly after, had what looked to be a black :billf: smash the teazer, knock the left short out the rigger and then inhaled the right short - game on. Cleared lines while the fish tore 500 meters off the spool while staying down. Couldnt back up in that sea or turn as we had no idea where the fish was. Didnt matter that I had backed off completely on the drag, one big surge and she was gone... swr the curse continues!! Thats what you get for forcing the 30 lb issue in rediculous conditions!
Went 50 meters after winding in all the slack and we had another :billf: fish up in the spread that hooked up briefly on the shotgun and came off.   Weather report for the next week is a horror show..plenty time for the wounds to heal...
