in the third pic where you make the loop around the line....... 

Do the lines cross-over under your thumb???
Or do you hold them parallel to one another and then start your 1st loop?

Lupo... the tag end line must cross over the mainline in order to make the loop. It crosses over, then under, forming the loop, then back under the thumb. If you follow the red line... where it breaks, that's where it goes under.

I thought as much, my confusion came about after looking at the entry and exit of your line (tag end) through the hook. Pic 2  ( tag end  is thread up through the hook eye) In Pic 3 the tag end is ( now after your explanation) thread down through the hook eye.

Please note I am not questioning your work, as you know I am a huge fan. I just know that my wife will ask me that exact question tonight when I am practicing the knot and she will want a go. LOL

I use it for terminal tackle and leaders (Bimini to Double Fig 8).

@Roach... sure you can use the Fig 8 in steel... here is the Tut on that one... it's a LOT more tricky to do in steel without kinking the wire, but if you're careful it works superbly. You can also use it instead of the Albright, where you attach the Stopper ring end steel to the leader... back to back Fig 8'S. Works REALLY well for that!

Ya, nice knot this. I only really learnt of it this weekend in Kilwa (skipper uses it) and like the finish. Previously just used simple clinch knot which has never let me down. Good to learn something different though so will use it in the future for sure

My favorite knot knot quick and easy enough to do with your eyes closed and you can pull it up tight in 300lb leaders.

When I tie it I go through the eye of the terminal wrap the the line around around the tip of my fore finger 3 time pull my finger out push the line through were my finger was and pull tight.

What's also handy about this knot is you can use it as a loop knot as the clinch is pulled down the line stop at the desired size of loop you want then pull like hell on the tag end and mainline to lock it in place. Under major pressure it will still pull closed but the knot will hold.

I don't know if my version of this knot has another name, but instead of doing 2 loops, I make 1 loop and thread the tag end over the main line and through the loop 2x (or as many as you need when say joining braid and mono/leader to the bimini). I find it less fiddly and quicker.

Thanks Reefz, after your demo Saturday got me thinking, always used the Fisherman's Bend but have now practised and can make it easy quick and simple from memory. Going to be so much easier.
Works well with thick leader line also - was worried how I was going to make Fisherman's Bend knots with thick leader line. LOL!
