Towing DURBAN-NELSPRUIT
« on: August 04, 2011, 10:00:47 AM »
Guys,

Need some help...

We need to two a little something from Durban to Nelspruit... What's the safest and quickest route? Will be driving on Sunday crack of dawn...

My plan was Durban (N3) - Ladysmith (N11) - Ermelo (N11) - Middelburg (N4) - Nelspruit (N4)....

Any suggestion?

Thanks!

JF I will suggest staying on the N3 till heidelberg then go to the N12 past carnival city and from the N12 you join up with the N4. Going this way you will only do 10km single road and 8Km at dal park area where you will have robots etc. The roads at Ermelo were hectic dont know if they have been fixed :dunno: . I have found that altough this way it is a bit further it actualy takes less time.

That's sounds like a very long way. Would there not be a shorter route going through Swaziland. I know there is a border post that comes out close to Nelspruit, just can't recall the name.

Swazi will be much shorter and two border posts Manangha and Jeppes reef is close to Nelspruit. If they do not mind going thru Swazi I will recommend just dont know the times the borders operate.

Swazi is not an option.... we need to finalize some paperwork before crossing borders.... rather do it at Ressano Garcia...

Thanks for the advice!

Its the N17 that passes Carnival City....not the N12
You will have to go through Atlas Road, or Heidelburg Rd extension... ( I think thats what its called...its the Carnival City Offramp, Turn left) to join the N12, then Join the N4

Still a much better route than Ermelo !

Yup... for sure...
But just wanted to correct that... else Marcos would be driving down the N17 waiting for the N4 only to end up in Ermelo !

Marcos... When is this ??? We can maybe meet you and take you through ???

JF as you get to Heidelberg you will first get an off ramp towards Nigel. Skip that one the next one is Benoni. Take that one and go on until you get Carnival city on the left. You will be entering a build up area with robots at this stage. Still go on straight and from Carnival city 7 robots later you will be at the N12. Follow the route to Witbank. If you need more detail let me know.

I would say that's not a bad option at all...I will let you know when needed
...as long as it's a safe driver
is it towed or put on a cargo trailer?

@Prego...no one...yet!!!

No worries, the driver is a good one, as long as the trailers are road worthy. yip they are towed up here. The smaller craft go onto a trailer.
