Bait up for carp

Hi guys. Here are some examples of how I bait up for carp. I do however catch other species like Yellow fish and Mudfish on these as well.

Floaties just on its own. The one hook is a size 2 and the other a size 0.8.

Dough is made of cake flour and some water. A basic recipe is; one   teaspoon water, add flour while stirring into a nice consistent dough.   The dough is ready when it stops clinging to the side of the cup you are   mixing it in. I like adding some brown sugar to the water before mixing   in the dough. Dough can also be used with worms or floaties. Semolina   can also be used instead of the flour. Just mix it until it is still   sticky and let it stand for about 10min. Then add just a little more   semolina if necessary until  the dough feels right in you hands.   Flavours can be added to the water before adding the flour or semolina.

You can also make a bread backing. Take a slice of brown bread and remove the crust. Then just sread a little dip of your prefered flavour and start kneeding until smooth. Excellent as a backing or on its own. Good flavours are Molasses, Honey, Curry(few drops of water too get the pappie smooth), FX(Caramel, Vaaldam.

The guy that i went with used Sprite for his dough ?

For sure. Carp love sweet dough. I myself use Carp World ready made semolina dough since October last year with a lot of success. I am currently leading our club championship and some of my bigger fish were caught on strawberry dough on the one hook.

Got a Carp in Albert Falls (Pmb) of around 9kgs on brown bread mixed with sugar !

This was a slow winter... Was much colder than previous years. Last two comps I only got 2 fish each. I know of another club where the winner got 20 fish for their clubcomp in June. Think he got a lucky spot or something. Maybe the venue was just ideal for harbouring fish trying to get to safe warmer water. Don't know  :dunno:

Luckily the weather is already changing and next month will be much better(I hope).

Hey guys. Apologies for digging up an old thread. But I guess rather that than starting a new one right?

So with regards to putting floats on the hook. I prefer using soft floats. The reason is because the hard floats always split in half when i try to push them pass the first bend in the hook. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to combat this?

I have had a few issues with the harder floaties, but just find the "hole" in the floatie and put it through there. I always do it gently, but they do still break every now and then. Hope you come right!
