Nice post, I still think it is a lot of effort to go through! Make a knot, quicker and IMO more secure!
yes but its much cheaper than taperd leaders and a well made one wil never ever fail think about the marlin guys with a pissed off 500kg marlin on one side and a tiagra 130 fulled with 130lb line and a boat with 2x 250hp on the back to sett a 14/0 hook? they dont fail if they are made well. the guy i buy mine from has landed 20 odd black pylies with 7 over 200kgs! lots of those big eyed russian jumping sharks and duckbulls, threshers, raggies, bronzies op to 200kgs most of them off rocks and i still havent heard of any of his failing if that doesnt say enough then i dont know??
Next time I see you on the beach I'll race you, we see who is back in the water faster after a burn-off. You prep a wind-on and I make a knot!
Craig how are you going to make a knot in 1.6mm leader? That's what we use Wind-ons for. Up to 1mm - sure knot is the way to go, but from 1.2mm upwards... that knot gets very big and bulky...?
