the day started well, cleaned the boat, ran the motors and packed for leaving on Wednesday to Jozini,

The youngsters wanted Rocomamas burgers so went to get them at 5, at 11 I had a slight swelling on my lip so took a couple of antihistemines at 13:00 this is what I looked like so off to te clinto and spent the rest of the night in ICU

much better today, the doctor said it was an alergic reacion to my BP tablets Prexum
when I die, may my wife not sell my fishing tackle for what I told her I paid for it... and I have bought more, a severe case of TA

Hell no Rodger :the sHPLAT  must come right asap, before you leave  My St Lucia buddies, that are Jozini regulars, say the water is still low but the  :tgr: are biting . He thinks that the fish must be more concentrated and getting hungry. Good luck when you get there and drive safely .   :toppie:

Was it just the Prexum or did you drop them in some detergent when you cleaning the boat or perhaps in some 95octane when running the motors prior to drinking them :hnthnt:

Anyhow, I know how the rest of your family felt, had the same scare some three years ago when the Boss started swelling up, to the point where she couldn't see through her swollen eyelids, Emergency room 4 hours on a drip, following morning she seemed fine, heated some pizza from the night before and before I could leave for work, it returned, doubling in severity, another 6 hours and needless to say tests upon tests and then some more batches of allergic tests, all with the same result "We don't know what caused it."

You're lucky that they could identify the cause and treat it. Glad you're ok again, now get some :tgr: ' son the line and smile when you take pics of the fish! :rotfl

There is a chinese mushroom that clears cholesterol, improves heart function, drops blood pressure and contains phytosterols that are as potent as cortisone in trials but non-toxic. Normally being on the stuff for a month brings the blood pressure right back down to normal, I've met many people who have used this successfully after side-effects from the prescribed stuff. I've personally seen it replace BP pills a few times, I've seen it being used in curing cancer, I've seen it replace statins, I've seen it fix/cure allergic problems that people had endured their entire lives having to carry a epinephrine pen around with them always. Asside from being anti-cancer, it helps with diabetes, is anti-protozoa,bacterial,viral and anti-fungal but it does not kill your good microherd as the fungus lives symbiotically with those guys like lactobacilli etc. in nature. It keeps ones blood sugar stable and hence keeps moods stable and also sorts out auto-immune disorders and it contains anti-histamines and sorts out allergies and their reactions. I have it growing wild where i stay luckily but drop me a PM if anyone wants the importers/suppliers details..they will courier and it is cheap relative to pills. This stuff has saved my life before..seriously. Chinese secret this one..in the old days this was the highest order or a gift one could give to royalty as they were rare before cultivation and many chinese royal houses have the mushroom included in the family crests as a reference to them used to give longevity. The health benefits from this mushroom can be/are profound.

Reishi mushroom, look it up..It would treat your blood pressure, treat your allergic reaction too, keep you healthy and prolong your life..and costs a rand or two to take everyday.. The extract route is also good, don't even look at the plain mushroom powder in pills though as you need much more, but look for certified, dual water and ethanol extracts, dry powderised being more economical. Or just make a daily tea or include it in your daily soup stock like the chinese do. The taste is vile like bitter old socks but one gets used to it pretty soon, lemon, rooibos and some honey makes a world of difference. Tastes faking great to me now after years of the stuff!

Anyway do yourself a favour and look it up..

Just copied drug interactions to watch with BP drugs..
"
  • Medications for high blood pressure (Antihypertensive drugs) interacts with REISHI MUSHROOM
Reishi   mushroom might decrease blood pressure. Taking reishi mushroom along   with medications for high blood pressure might cause your blood pressure   to go too low.

Some medications for high blood pressure include captopril (Capoten),   enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem   (Cardizem), Amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDIURIL),   furosemide (Lasix), and many others.
  • Medications that slow blood clotting (Anticoagulant / Antiplatelet drugs) interacts with REISHI MUSHROOM
High   doses of reishi mushroom might slow blood clotting. Taking reishi   mushroom along with medications that also slow clotting might increase   the chances of bruising and bleeding.

Some medications that slow blood clotting include aspirin, clopidogrel   (Plavix), diclofenac (Voltaren, Cataflam, others), ibuprofen (Advil,   Motrin, others), naproxen (Anaprox, Naprosyn, others), dalteparin   (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, warfarin (Coumadin), and   others."

Took the boat on a brief outing this morning to the harbour to collect some water samples for an EIA...

This is how the bay was... eish...

But the water is VERY murky... chocolate brown due to the rain we've had lately.

Moved the Helix 7 to the bow/trawl motor and installed the 9 at the cockpit with its larger than life transducer on the transom.

Cleaned the boat a bit after the hectic comp yesterday on Nooitgedacht dam, where I blanked on the Friday "pre-fish" but managed to weigh 5 fish limit on Saturday that got me 19th out of the 26 boats that took part. Was fishing alone and it was my first time on the water, so I didn't do to bad as I still managed to beat 7 other boats whom had two anglers on the decks except for 1, who also fished alone.

Then I decided to move the "brick" of a transducer to the underside of the jackplate as it caused some serious up-spray that sprayed onto the motor when the boat was on plane. This inherently means that the transducer will be out of the water on plane but should be just fine when idling along scanning and mapping. The placement is not in a way that the trim and tilt will affect the transducer even when fully trimmed down. The only concern I have is if I am on unknown water, I won't have any depth reading running on the plane? :shk  So I'll just have to ensure I at least have a contour lines map of the new water in hand when I launch to know where the deeper water is and where I should idle rather than cruise.

Also, the two cables that control the forward and reverse + throttle on the main motor were installed with a large loop that had the cables running out the right of the stern over the jackplate and after the loop that formed over the aft deck, they went back into the right of the motor, I decided to reinstall them so that the loop is now no-where to be seen.

Fitted a new fishfinder and a pushplate.  Both motors got spoiled with a service and a proper clean! Looking forward for the next launch!

firstly and most importantly, well done and a very good result from some tuff conditions, especially the mind set from the previous day donut.
i too soon will have to install or help install a brick i purchased (second hand). your new installation or new location could help me. i say "could" because we all know setting a transducer is no easy task. to get those clear readings is a mistery of note and in this case a few too many holes in the transome. without looking at your previous setup and been told about the up-spray or can i call it a rooster tail (for obvious reason) could be from a couple of things, firstly - the transducer could of been a tad too deep or dropped way below the level of the boat's hull (deeper is better for readings but will increase the rooster's tail), secondly- the design of this brick, after receiving the transducer, i quickly noticed a problem, comparing it to other transducers it was evident it would kick alot more water. twin gusset plates to be fastened onto the transome bracket and the cable protruding from the brick somewhere near the middle. these two things catch alot more water if the transducer is not set optimately to prevent it from catching to much water you loose on readings. with your new location under the jack plate could be a good place but wondering about motor interference on the readings. i saw this, to help or cut the rooster tail

Hope this helps

Pic 1 and 2, the two silver strips of tape is where it used to be, admittedly a tad too low, but it was at the top of the plates settings, so I had to drill new holes in any case. Where it is currently installed, not too far from the bottom of the hull, also the prop (once trimmed down) is deeper than the transducer and some distance away. I will have to check for turbulence once I'm on the water again. If none, then this placement would be 1000000% nice, center of the boat, thus side imaging will be better reflected and it will be protected in every which way!

Pic 3, a close-up of what the transducer's shape is
