Actually happened last Saturday, it was in the folded position but I went too close to a tree in my drive and it just caught it - my fault.
Insurance have already paid up and the new one has been ordered from Cape Town :rck"

I think you can bend it more or less straight but never the same as the anodizing gets 'stretched' - Insurance paid the 17k(less 10%) no quibble so I am not complaining.

Launched yesterday at 07:30for some supervision work on our artisanal fishing monitors and mapping of fishing areas up in Machangulo. Got into some thick (vis less than 50 m!) fog 5 nm out of Maputo all the way to SM and Mabuluco (Bembi estuary). It was pretty scary... anchored ghost dhows coming out of nowhere.... it only dissipated at 11.30!!!!

Pic below is Sta Maria just in front of Camp Carlos.... a few meters from the beach  :shk

Did 98 nm and when I got back.... no running water in the club!!!! :unhap

Will wash the boat today

Changed out the turnbuckle that pulls the bow downwards towards the trailer with a ratchet strap config, much ,ugh quicker and way less cumbersome, also has the added advantage of not ratteling loose when travel on dirt roads!

Before my trip to tha Far East last week I had to replace the steering cable on the trolling motor as that had snapped off very very cleanly two days before I got on the plane. Fixing it coming wasn't an option as I landed on Friday and on Saturday we had a comp at Witbank. Glad it worked out perfectly, fitting it was quick and simple, setting the teeth to align with the rotational limits was quite another thing.

The NE was blowing at 8-10 knots today with temps going up to about 28-29o C...

Took the opportunity to take the family to Xefina Is. Water was cold (20ish) but the flat seas and quietness made it worthwhile....

I bought a new one 4 years old "Ocean Rebel2" 510 Seacat CC with 2 x 70 Yamaha 4 strokes. My old boat is at Durban Yamaha if anyone keen in getting a good second hand boat ??
A bad days fishing is better than sitting at home moping.

Hi John, after having had 2 x 40hp four strokes on my previous boat, i thought my fuel consumption would go through the roof now.

In reality even though the boat is bigger, heavier and with bigger motors, the difference in fuel usage is negligable.

When purchasing the boat, my initial thought was to upgrade the motors to 4 strokes but after having used it a few times i wont be going that route.
