Washed my boat down with pressure hose yesterday and did not put boat cover on so that it could dry out overnight.  A family of hadedas decided to crap all over the boat and made a huge crappy mess.  So again had to wash it down today... Then the rain came.... Will see in the morning what it looks like.  I hate those hadedas

I intend to do a lot of livebait fishing (downrigger, drifting, kite) this coming season and needed a slightly larger livebait well. The one I have now (ex-Maguro), is great  (I guess it has a 40 L capacity), but holds comfortably about 12-15 baits. I need more that that and depending on the bait species, quite often, a few arrive dead or died rather quickly when we start fishing. So I did some measurements between the transom and false transom and concluded that there's enough space for a much large container. I bought one of those Addis110 L black bins with a lid and spent a few minutes today removing the old tank and fitting the new one. Still need to drill a couple of holes to secure it to the false transom, two other water escape holes and fit the plumbing.

Another issue that has been bugging me lately (especially as I get older!!) is water splashing on my feet from the open-ended rod holders in the gunnel (especially in the winter). When driving with a side wind there's always water seeping through and keeping my feet wet and cold!!!!

Tried plastic caps from spray cans but they eventually leak or keep the water there for weeks! Decided to tackle the problem and install a drainage system. Bought some plastic tubing for aquaria and some of those green T-connectors, as well as a few 37 mm rubber caps at Builders, and ....voila. Drilled the end of the rubbercap and forced the green T-connector into the hole. All rod holders will be inter-connected with the plastic tubing which ultimately drains out via the scuppers...

Next outing, I'm going to be dry & happy feet!!! :hehe:

Wish my boat was at "A family of Hadedas decided to crap all over the boat...." Stage already, seriously cannot wait to start! Maybe after I'm done building I could get a proper night's sleep, well it won't be soon after completion as I'm pretty sure I'll be lying awake fishing of the deck for months on end!

Hi John, it comes standard with a GT 52 HW-TW Transducer (High wide chirp / Chirp down Vu / Chirp side Vu, 12 pin, Transom mount)

I read about the new Panoptix transducer which has recently been released by garmin and thought i'd get that to, until i found out how expensive they are.

Panoptix is the bomb (both in capability and price!!!!)

According to the Garmin site the GT52HW is perfect for freshwater use (250W). Not sure about the area where you fish mostly, but any chance you can get the GT51M? It's the next bigger brother (CHIRP 500 W and Traditional 600W) of the GT52? It is a beast of a 'ducer - yes, it's double the price but hey it will be worth it!!!!!

Yes. However, it is not loose. There are two 10 mm s/s bolts with ear nuts, washers and o-rings holding the tank to the false transom.

Nice M, but you did not mention any fish? Are those old turrets still there or has the sea claimed them?

The NE was blowing quite hard so no fishing at all. Also, this was a day with Madam Secretary General and the kids... scoring some points :hehe: The only fish we had was some nice salt & pepper YFT steaks with lemon later on. But I didn't want to rub it in to the boys here   :crzy

The turrets are still there but brocken and half submerged especially during high tides
