braid to fluoro/leader
« on: August 30, 2010, 11:34:23 AM »
I want to tie 4.5 kg braid to 7kg fluoro leader - the two knots I know are the double uni and the surgeons knot - would one of these be ok?
Thanks and regards

Hey Chef !
 :welc:

Have a look in this section, there are a few knots that are shown for braid to leader !
The one that i use 99% of the time is a double fig 8 with a 7 turn uni.

Chef, it may look intimidating, but its the only knot i use to attach hooks, sinkers, swivels and leaders !
Keep at it, once you get the hang of it, you can do it in the dark.

Its basically 3 loops each bigger than the last, then the tag end in through the smallest loop, and let go !

Chef...  :welc:

Check out this thread - it shows you how to make a Fig 8... this one is in terminal tackle, but the principles of doing it in the 7 turn Uni to Fig 8 is exactly the same.

There is also a video showing how to do the Double Fig 8 to a leader (this one is in mono)... but again, the principles are exactly the same.

Hope you come right!

Chef the other knot you can try with ultra light tackle Braid to leader is the Yucatan... I use it routinely in small diameter leaders - very simple.

Hi Reefman - thanks for following up - struggle continued - either knots were to big or they slipped - am a bit knot challenged - so for know taken the easy way out and back to using a swivel - really appreciate all the help though
