..Mornings folks , one of Jikeleza locals , Johan had his bait in the right spot at the right time and was taken by this fine shad of 91cm!!!...Well done Johan...Im sure that fight will stay with you for a very long time....

Nice Kent! Well done on landing 'em kobbies. As for your own creation awesome stuff. Maybe you should start selling them.

..Charles.....ja...look whats special about this spoon...it pushes lots of water BUT swims shallow...so great for those bricky areas where the target area is no more than 2 foot deep...and where I got these kobbies is exactly that kinda structure...so while kobbies will eat most shiny good swimming spoons....Its getting the RIGHT action spoon to operate in the shallows where one will very often find these kobbies hanging out.....

Well done Kent, you are a master in this art!

..Riekert.....ja look....its a learning curve with this facet of fishing , and being specific with spoon for kobbies and targeting them in bricky areas its always experimenting ...to find that "holy grail" of spoons ...BUT ...we all know that does not exisit..LOL.....BUT..yesterday arvie I happened to get the timing right...thats why I always say to okies when asked....take notes...when you catch and even when you dont catch....yesterday arvie , I was at my top kobbie spot in my local area ..had 20 odd throws but nothing...then noticed to my left abot 50 odd meters away two Jonnies fishing and they were smacking the bait fish in the shallows...Now , that spot where they were is normally a spot i gooi on a higher tide...I mosied over and thought damn its shallow....clipped on the new DS and first throw I was IN!!...had good fun for an hour...

...Bjr,,,yes of course...will take a pic tonight...its a S shape...BUT has been tweeked here and there....for me ..its all about action and how stable a spoon is in turbulence....Sooo...while many spoons will look like this one .....they might not "swim" like this one....

  Well ..good day Folks...of late I havent been looking at the coming weekends conditions on a Wednesday of late , due to all the wet weather weve been having.....BUT...IF the present systems off our coast keep true to form ...THEN...we in for a real BANGER of a conditions-for-fishing weekend...From Friday arvie through to midday Sunday is looking REALLY good!!!....With low tides at 10h30 on Saturday and a low at 11h00 on Sunday....With light winds predicted as per the systems moving along our coast , its best to keep that kit at ready!!!

..Howzit Nathan ...ja thanks.....I use a 1053H King Fisher Stimulator and a Daiwa SL30...that is loaded with .45 Suffix and with a 60lb 1 meter clear trace attached to my spoons.....Tha 10footer Stim is a great little rod....BEST rods ever made by KF in my humble opinion...it has a fast tip and very nice back bone to muscle the kobbies in and around the bricks....

  Well well well....Good mornings Folks...as I write this weve been blasted by a very nice west and this with a rising baro over the next 12 hours is only setting off ALARM fishing bells in my head!!!......The only thing that we need to heed is that with the two fronts that have slipped past our coast and into the deep blue we are going to have an uppish sea and this coupled with a FULL bright moon spring today , we need to be on our toes at the waters edge this weeken[/size]d...[/color]
Saturday sees a low at 10h30 and on Sunday at 11h00 ...so to great outgoing early AM tides and also for the arvies on the two days...the water temp is around the warmish 19 and as of this AM there is a slight north westly surge on the sea ....I did notice a bit of a ground swell and this might catch some fisherman out as they eye those nice set of rocks to put their bags down , always watch the water for at least 15 or so minutes before settling down to a spot...Even on a sandy beach...
Ive heard of only blues that have come out this past week and it may seem that the shad have cooled down abit.....I hear of kob catches in the Gonubie and Kwelerga rivers at night , but as of yet Ive seen or heard no firm details as to these catches...
The wind will continue to blow today and as that baro tops out overnight it will calm down to a puff come the early AM....Light Nwesters are predicted for the whole weekend and turning to east midday on Sunday.....I predict that fishing for Sat and then Sunday AM is the ZONE time...
NOW...on this particular tide , the Jikeleza fishes very well , Cintsa point comes to mind for just about anything .....Glen Muir and Navar are bothe DAMN fine spots....A spot I ver seldom mention , BUT , if you looking for that elusive poensie then take a ride around to the Kwelerga village side and just before you get into the village that section of coast fishes very well for poensies and this tide is perfect ......BUT...make sure you are not under gunned when targeting these fine fighters in that structure!!!
Cefane beach to the right should also fire on this tide and a piggie is not out the question....
Folks , PLEASE be safe out there this weekend and watch the water!!!

Was planning on going down early in the morning to have a fish before picking them up. I have never fish that area before except for the Kwenura river. ..Hi Jon..long time no hear....jip...Cefani is good...and this weekend its an early AM pushing tide ...I would fish left of the Cefani river mouth as there are some really nice sloepies that have formed there of late....High is at around 10h00 and if all systems hold as they are at the moment , the swell should not be a problem...pack some decent chokka and a some prawn...Cefani is known for its piggies that can surprise you...TIGHT LINES...and give us some feed back...

  ..Mornings...Folks....well its the Jikeleza show this weekend and if you have any thoughts of going , best you get out there tomorrow as there is a pretty serious looking front gonna hit us around 11h00 on Sunday AM....The water is looking great and the temp is around the 19 mark...swell size is a decent 4 to 5 foot and will create nice working water in the inshore gutters and gulleys.....Although by Sunday arvie that swell will jump to over 9 foot..[/size]Soooo, my predication is to get in some fishing tomorrow as Sunday and Monday AM might just be a blow out ....I noticed no surge or side wash this AM and it should hold until that front hits...the wind for tomorrow will be a slight northwester and the swell is running at a northly direction...Sunday that west will blast through at a 50kph....[/color]
This past week I heard of the blues being on the bite and one silver of about 5 kilos came out at Glen Navar....Tides this weekend will suit most spots on the Jikeleza for an early AM session...take note its a pushing nip tide and high on Saturday is at 10h00...Sunday at 11h45 ...
Spots to think about would be Kei Mouth at the mouth and follow the colour line as the water pushes in the mouth...if the conditions are right and the Kei is not too grubby it fishes well on this kinda early AM tide...
Yellow Sands also fishes well on this tide in the AM...BUT ...just be aware if the swell picks up it can rush a bit over those ledges out front..
With this water colour and temp Cintsa point is always a good option ..BUT you would have to get there early as the pushing tide might catch your offsides and then its a swim back to the beach...
NOW...those wanting a little adventure can get to Cefane and take an early AM walk left to Bosbok and gooi for piggie off the beach as that tide pushes....heard of two piggies come out there in the last two weeks ...seems the bank formation is spot on...
Those of you that have been out towards GlenGariff of late will notice how washed out it is in the middle of the bay with the exposure of the rocks there...NOW...standing on those rocks on the push ...Im telling you that pigs will lurking in that turbulent water....
Well , Folks...thats it for this weekend...the water looks good...the tide is good , lets hope that front gives us a gap for some line wetting!!!

  Mornings Folks...well , this past week has seen some really beaut mornings and the sea was looking fantastic.....with a rather serious looking front off Cape Town the last 24 hours , things were looking set for another west blast ...BUT ..that front has slipped into the deep blue and the barometer has shot up to 1002hpk and Im sure by tomorrow AM it will be at 1025hpk....Which in turn the beastly eastly will be puffing very very early at a rate of knots!!!......The wa[/size]ter at the moment is still a very good colour although the temp has dropped quite a few degrees ...sitting at around the 17 mark...[/color][/size]Your high is at 04h00 tomorrow AM and on Sunday at 04h30...Please note we are on a dark moon spring this weekend and be aware of sudden surges , although I noticed no surge or wash this AM...Predicted swell is around the 8 foot mark , so the sea will be uppish and that means those high tide rocks you are used to standing on might just get a tad wet!!!
The east will blow itself out as the next low pressure approaches and Sunday AM will be calm with a very slight north west will puff....This then brings me to the window of opportunity which I say will be Sunday AM on the outgoing tide....from the arvie onwards the west will puff a bit as that front gets closer and Im sure we will get some rain later in the day....[/color]
Spots to look out for will be Glen Gariff , which works nicely on an outgoing , but you need to get there early as that bay empties quite quickly on spring outgoing....Yellow sands , directly in
front of the caravan park also works well on an outgoing and seems to hold the water a lot longer....
Once again its a tide that suits Cintsa point and also the ledges to the left of the tidal pool at Cintsa west side...
Moving further north at Double Mouth could be good on this tide ...BUT...and a big BUT...here it will depend on the size of the sea...Doubles can be awkward on a big sea and it does not fish a surge very well...
Also on this tide early AM is Bonzas....from the Quinera river through to Danger point is a very good walk n stalk area early AM for those drop shottists and rubbers men....
Well Folks , tomorrow will be an iffy day for fishing as that east will start early early...BUT...no line in the water means no chance of that BIG fish!!!
