Am report on our East Coast from Gonubie to Kei

  Mornings East Coasters......I trust you are all well and looking forward to get some much needed fishing done after this rather wet n windy week weve just come through......[/size]That being said , the water is looking DAMN fine and the winds for this weekend , early AM will be very light and variable...the high off to the south of the coast will slowly make its way across land and the pressure will rise steadly ...always a good sign for our inshore reef fish...[/color]
[/size]The water temp is around the 18 mark and the swell is around the 4 to 5 foot area....there is a slight westly swell running with no surge or sidewash...BUT...there is a front hanging off the CT point and that is slipping slightly into the deep blue and MIGHT have an affect on the ground swell in the coming two days ....[/color]
[/size]Sooo...although the tides are nip this weekend with a high at 07h00 tomorrow and a high at 07h50 on Sunday , always keep your eyes on the water...[/color]
[/size]Spots to look out for are Glen Muir , Glen Navar , Cefane to the left is always good on an early AM push and as the tide turns again....Bonzas to the right could also be an option and maybe Green Bay and the Springs along the Gonubie side...[/color]
[/size]Folks , conditions look good and the water colour suggests that there might be a few silvers around....remember the shad are off limits and make sure your hooks are sharp n strong.....[/color]

  ....Mornings East Coasters....well we moving into a dark moon spring AND from the looks of what is coming up the coast from CT , we are in for BEEG surging seas!!!...Soo..please be VERY wary when out fishing on our Jikeleza this weekend...There is a VERY strong westly swell running and while in certain spots it might seem flat to your , always look at that horizon and it looks like crinkle cut chips then you know we in for some serious wave height!![/size]The water colour and temp is very good and you will have a firm eastly blowing from early AM tomorrow and as the baro drops as that front approaches the west should blast through tomorrow arvie late...[/color]
Spots to look out for this weekend would be Glen Garif as its fairly sheltered from a heavy west....the likes of Cefane and Cintsa beach might be a bit of a blow out....IF you comfortable with getting wet then Cintsa point is also an option BUT here please do watch the surge and be aware of what the tides are doing....
You have a low tomorrow AM at 08h30 and on Sunday at 09h00...another spot to try is Kwelerga at the mouth and also Queensberry on the Glen Eden side.....
Fishing inshore reefs might be the order of the day for this weekend or those that like doing a bit of river fishing

  ..Well this past weekend was a blow out....one East Coaster braved the conditions and was reward with a nice tussle with a speareye....

  ..Mornings East Coasters..well we in for a pretty windy weekend and a sea thats predicted at 6 to 8 foot swells running in an eastly direction....Tomorrow the wind will be a stiff east and will get quieter in the early hours of Sunday AM as that front approaches the wind will switch to west late on Sunday arvie. Monday Tuesday next week look good as fishing days looking at the wind etc etc....[/size]Sat sees a high tide at 05h45 and on Sunday at o6h15...Spots to look out for this weekend will be those eastly shelterd spots ...WHICH there are not too many on the Jikeleza...One comes to mind is the Bulugha point fishing towards Glen Gariff...also you can try infront of the Kwelerga Village...Sunday AM early with very light wind on a full nip high , Cefane and Cintsa beach must get the nod. Ive also heard some damn fine banks and sloepis formed on the Haga beach as well. Marsh Strand is also an option on this nip tide early high...great poensie spot that!!![/color]
[/size]The water is sitting at around 17 and its pretty clean n clear. I noticed no surge this AM although there is a slight westly side wash , what with the big west yesterday and the west this AM...[/color]

  ..Mornins Folks , well , its that time of the year when one can get in an hours throwing before work and of course NOW fish when the conditions are on during the week...I knew that this AM would be on..rising baro...good clean working water and the tide would be spot on for one of my fave kob spots right on 300m from my front door!!....BUT....what I did not expect was what hit my Falconetti at 05h30 and felt straight away that this was NO KOB!!!.....[/size]Well needless to say when i saw the angry little face look at me once I landed him I was absolutley blown away!!...This to date is my second poensie on spoon and a VERY VERY special catch , indeed for me!![/color]
[/size]Im not sure when the day arrives and I land a teenager OR an adult , coz I think the SL30 will sukkel a bit...BUT...This AM was special!!![/color]

  ..Good day Folks , well the water looks really good and the temp is around the 17 mark....we heading into a bright moon spring and once again on springs , please watch the water. When I was down this AM I noticed a fair surge and westly sidewash...Wind is gonna be a stiff east from this evening onwards to late Sunday arvie...BUT...there is a very weak inland low that might just just keep that east in check for an early AM gooi tomorrow early.
Your low tides are 06h00 tomorrow and 07h00 on Sunday , now with these early AM tides your have , just off the tip of my tongue about 10 VERY spots along our Jikeleza......Pullins at Hagga , Cefane to the left towards Bosbok very good kob area....Cintsa point for some kob , poensie and silvers....Yellow Sands , infront of the caravan park first set of rocks ...VERY good drop shot spot....THEN...Bonzas has been throwing some kob and these tides are SPOT ON!!...Also Glen Gariff and Queensberry for silvers and Poensie.....Then if you like a small walk Glen Navar and Muir.....
The past two days , quite a few kob have come out and the blues are always around....some gents had fun with the juvenile grey at Gonubie point the other night....Soooo...
IF the east gives us a break we might just just be in business this weekend!!!
Well , Folks ..have fun , watch the water and remember ..pick up the litter!!!

  ..Mornings Folks....the east that was predicted for this early AM never pitched and it was dead calm...hit the water at 05hoo and to find a good sea , although it was a abit chilly at 15.....for my two hours efforts I was rewarded with a coupla "illegals" which swam off into the sunrise and not a kobbie insight...BUT..this I put down to the chilly water.....

  Mornings East Coasters...well the water colour looks good although its a tad chilly at 14...The system hanging off our coast looks very much the same as last weekend and we are in for very windless early AM on Sat and Sunday....[/size]High tide is at 06h00 tomorrow and at 06h39 on Sunday with a dead eastly swell running at about 5 to 8 foot with no surge or sidewash expected ...remember , being a nip tide weekend the tides will not move that much...[/color]
[/size]Spots to look out for would be Cintsa.. beach area and Cefane to the right of the river.....AND remember ...be alert...with this temp water there could be a pig or two lurking about and do not get surprised by that first blistering run!!![/color]
[/size]The baro is rising very nicely and the window could very well be tomorrow AM as Sunday , heavy rain is predicted with a stiff east wind..Although not the Jikeleza , but worth mentioning , Green Gates at the bottom of Moore street in the Quigney has thrown some piggies this past week and these tides are great for there!![/color]
[/size]A little unknown spot along the coast between Gonubie and Bonzas is a little bay called Green bay by the local blues fisherman and I had a report of at least three silvers coming out there.....it might just be worth the walk and make sure you find some red bait..[/color]
[/size]Once again Folks . please be alert when fishing at your spots as this past week two fisherman were accosted near the Black Rock in Gonubie...[/color]

  Mornings East Coasters...well , we have an upside down sea at the moment , that is off colour and a tad chilly at 13...there is a very eastly swell running with a pretty serious sidewash and surge...The barometer has bottomed out at 998hpk and as those two little coastal lows settle and move south east with that serious looking high rising in behind , we are in for two more days of windless early AM,s...The baro will start its rise later this evening and this is always a good[/size] sign...BUT ...in my humble opinion the water is a tad chilly for kobbies and a tad too grubby for silvers and poensies...BUT....THIS..is great water for that lurking piggy!!![/color]
NOW..with a low tide of 07h15 tomorrow and 07h45 on Sunday , there are numerous spots along the Jikeleza one can target these steam trains!!
Cefane to the left of the river......once again slightly west of the Jikeleza , but Eastern beach also a good spot for piggies with a sea like this..
Cintsa , just past the tidal pool , there is a small bay...also been know to throw a piggie or two....another spot for piggies is Glen Gariff beach ..
Although , over recent years Ive witnessed two very sizer pigs come out at Gonubie point....on a sea very much like we have now at the moment...so , there is some food for thought!!!
Here Im not saying you WONT get a kobbie , silver or poensie ..BUT..the water temp is not quite to their liking , although some sizer kob have been know to come out at Haga with a sea like this , so here again its a timing thing and at the right spot at the right time...
Remember Folks its that time of the year that the leeries are on the move and its not out of the question that you might happen on a shoal of these fantastic fish...the absolute gentleman of the sea , please show some restraint should you get into a shoal ....
Well , Folks , thats it...remeber we are moving into a dark moon spring and please watch the water extra careful at these times.

...Hey Colin....at this spot...you might be right!!!....Ive fished this spot for kobbies for many many years...and one thing....the conditions are aligned...you can bet your bottom dollar they will be there!!!
