Light Tackle Musandam
« on: January 03, 2012, 06:45:43 PM »
Hi Chaps it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything so I thought I’d share a few photos  We’re in the middle of winter here and its jackets buff’s and long pants for the morning run out to the fishing grounds not what you’d expect from fishing in the middle east!
We’ve been having fun with jigs and light tackle along with the GT’s on the bigger gear. Each day bring new challenges and fish species and strategies to get them on the boat. The schools of monster Milkfish have been keeping me up at night for a while now as well as the Bus Couta or Kingfish  as they are called here that have smashed us up more than once now.
Enjoy the Pics

Awesome photos as always Cam.

Have you guys used bucktail jigs?

I had a lot of fun with queenfish, dorries and cuta with the bucktails out of Fujairah

Thanks for the replies chaps
Tony that's pretty much the average size of the Big eye here occasionally you catch them having a blitz on the schools of anchovies they are pretty effective predators and cause some serious cases of vis koos on the boat when they start busting the surface everywhere we often go 4 or 5 up with every angler on the boat going vas.

ClS I'll send you regards to Damon you may have to tell me your real name though  :-)

Gerhard I have fished bucktails a few time but they are sadly all gone now having been noshed by toothy critters

He lost it on new years due to a minor lack of soberness  :frid
