:hyst: :hyst: im not that old , got stuck at 18 something , just the body cant keep up .. interesting thread as always , yep fishing etiquette is a must , seen okes want to break each other and tackle off the beaches and rocks with burn-offs , crossed lines , throwing over each others lines etc ... its a big patch of sea and sand , use it to the best of your ability , knowledge , remember fish dont hang motionlessly in one spot waiting  for a bait /lure to be thrown into there mouths ..  Tight lines chaps .. :rck"

Grumpy I agree but I have had charters / commercials come charging up and going between myself and a ship trolling konas, I had to pull in my live baits otherwise they would have got tangled, so not all of them are polite, not even the well known ones. If I am trolling and come across a FAD I will fish it and to hell if someone comes up to me and says its theirs, they are illegal and there for anyone. I will on the other hand not purposely go to some ones FAD unless given the marks and permission by them.
Tight lines all  :fshn: :fshn:

Yep silly season is here, weekdays are just as busy as weekends MADNESS!! Some guys waited more than 2hrs for the tractor on Wednesday, must say having the night rating etc is a big help, but even that is becoming a tad busy, arrive at the club and there already 15 - 20 boats waiting at 03h30 in the am.

There is no etiquette on the water anymore, we were working a ship on the drift and chumming and within in 15min 5 other boats, two pulling Konas thinking its a F1 track, #%^&* irritating.

Start again in a week or two when all the part timers have gone back to work. In the meantime I am going to fish the Eastern  Cape and generally make a nuisance of myself between Morgan bay and Cintsa. Lekka fishing there if conditions right. Promise not to be a pig and annoy the locals. They are quite lekka dudes though. :gljn:

Mates in E cape have just parked their boats for the last month,  and all but given up on the shore game fishing..chaos out there too, 20 boats on each little patch of reef, just pulling rapalas all over each other from sonop tot sonaf . The fish are around but hiding on the bottom in the gulleys and by the time they reach the rocks have been driven over 20 times and don't even want to look at a lure, don't even think of doing a drift or looking for surface workups to cast to..just park the boat and go trolling for their visiting daughters in the pub rather. I was at cape point last week and the "weekend specials in the middle of the week" out on their boats seem to think the fish wait under the cliffs for food and were doing big detours back and forth trolling donuts in front of the spinnermen, commercials were also in the mix a third of a cast out. Eish..spinners are much cheaper than boats but anyway. Most of those skippers figured it out but not after one or two passes right in front of everyone. WTF, it is a big ocean out there and the beauty of a boat is you can go find your own piece of fish and not ruin it for everyone else, least of which drive all over the fish that the guys on the side are waiting all day for and can't just up and move to where the fish are. We fish boat, shore, you name it and we show a bit more respect to other anglers. But ja manners in short supply on the water this time of the year everywhere not just up north.

With weather being up and down, up to S H one T more so, also all damn binnelanders and over 130 boats launching on the days when weather permitted, meant every ship had 5 plus boats working them and there are some inconsiderate Aholes out there, but we managed a couple days here and there on the water, nothing spectacular on catch front, opened the account on Wed with first dorrie of the year and season and FFF junior caught his first Bull dorrie, man the lighty was chuffed. All out of towners have gone back, leave has come to an end, back to the grindstone tomorrow. Now to hope weekends bring good weather.
