We went down to launch this morning. As we were about to a boat came back saying sea was terrible out and they called it.
Could see the massive cloud bank coming, still calm here but big west coming! Just a matter of time until it hits!
Quite a nasty shorey at DSBC aswel this morning!

an epic fish indeed, shame she died,   :-(   must have been one hell of a battle
when I die, may my wife not sell my fishing tackle for what I told her I paid for it... and I have bought more, a severe case of TA

How much would you lose to dehydration on a fish that size and a fair run back to the scales?

Just pulling that fish on board must've been a mission on it's own!!!  :win:

Not sure on the exact science but it can be quite a bit of weight loss.  You can see at the tail section it is already drying out. But it may have went over 900. We have a few towels on board which we keep wet and cover the fish with.

Those boere seuns are sterk China,  loading that fish would have been PT,  in the past we tie the fish of with a bill rope or have the small flying gaff into the bottom jaw, and we start loading between the motors, keep the boat headed down sea and have the crew holding the rope or bill as close to the fish as possible. Accelerate the boat slightly and then when the swell starts pushing you cut the throttles in to neutral and with wave and momentum you can pull it up in sections. Hard work after a fight, and I'm a lazy bastard so we release these days  :hehe:

Pulled a late launch yesterday - sea was too good and flat, 24.5 and very clean, saw a saily jump in front of me on the 50 line but nothing after cruising the area for a while, pulled out past the 100 but the sea seemed void of all life :dunno:
We then moved in a bit came across a huge shoal of skippies feeding and at least got to heat up the carbontex on some in the 5-6 kg range - a bit of mayhem at one stage with 3 on and just the wife and dog on board - great fun!

So stoked for my buddy Jason who had an absolute ripper of a trip on Saturday, clean seas with a light west he went north looking for livebait. They found a full-up selection of livebait and pulled for couta and managed one couta of around 17kg and then hooked up on an absolute BUS on a live bonnie. Well done Jason on your new PB couta of 32.8kg!!!

I saw some nice 20kg Tuna come out this weekend, heard of a 26kg from Ballito. Weather was great on Sunday, we decided to go south from DSBC and besides catching a nice tan, we got a fat goose egg after pulling Halcos and some Mackerel for many many miles.

Bus couta Bwana  :resp:
