Launched at 5am yesterday and headed north. Had both my sons on board who wanted to fish bottoms so put out a few feathers and trolled fast to Umhloti.
Had no takers on the feathers.
Went down for bottoms and landed a few spotted rockcod, a blue and yellow rockcod and a few nice soldiers.
Enjoyed watching the lities battling their fish at 50m.

We were down for the weekend  and launched at 10am both Friday and Saturday.

Both days we headed out to the deep to try find some nice water  :billf: :dor: , only to be robbed by a whole 30 seconds by another boat who got to our one mark first and quickly pulled 2 quick dorries,  we eventually came back to it later and got rewarded with a nice 13kg bull for my mate Travis' first dorado ever.  Saturday we had no luck but did have an amazing sunfish sighting.

Well done again Scott for a great first outing, not even a chance to test your fuel usage  :hehe:

PS. Jaen I no longer miss on the gaff  :crzy

Hi Guys, I'll be down this weekend. I'm going out on Saturday just for bait (Mac;s), for our Inhaca trip in March. So if any of you get any extra Mac's please send them my way.

Bunked work on Tuesday on the excuse that we were "testing" Clint's new Gamefish 625 after some motor adjustments. Launched off Shelly into a very lumpy sea with a persistent 8-10 SW making the conditions a bit nasty. Went out to the diepgat area where some solid YFT have come out the past week, put out a spread of rappies and halcos and a purple and black bullet (for the odd lost wahoo). Trolled for an hour and managed a double of 10kg class tuna on the lipped lures. No further pulls so we went jigging but were put off by the 2-3 knot current and lack of decent showings. We moved inshore onto a drift on Protea and were rewarded with non-stop action on the chum - another 5 yellowfin between 6-12kg as well as two decent skipjack and a lone dorrie which slowly ate his way up the chum line only to be trapped as I pitched him a whole sard. There were isolated patches of jub jub bonnies which kept us busy with the flickstick in between. At one stage I was hooked up on a bonnie on the flickstick when Brad went on with a bonnie on his chum bait, he dragged it in rapidly on his 30lb standup rig and about 5m from the boat a fully lit up marlin raced past the transom and smoked his bonnie on the surface right in front of us!  :shk Mad scrambling for a pitch bait ensued and by the time we pitched a dead bonnie on the circle hook he was gone. What an amazing sight - such pure power. All in all a great day at sea! Jono on Black Caviar managed a nice 18kg wahoo on a black and orange Rattler with no wire! Sometimes they just stick.
