like all the guys have said, we got punished by the NE yesterday.

Launched early, got bait and started working our way to the ships. The NE hit us half way, but we continued our quest to find the tuna/dorado.

Water temp was cold at about 20.3 Deg on the 60m mark. I found fish sitting at about 40m on the front of one ship, but couldnt get them up for the life of me.

We tried rapala's, konas and live bait but nothing.

Good to see the blokes again, been off the water for 3 months.

Until next time!

Us too!!

Weekend weather looks glum, so we going to tackle Albert Falls and hopefully get some lunker bass, also dust of the old PGA equipment and gooi  :mili: and kick feet up with some tall cold refreshments.

Yup, let's keep it cool guys, we're all mates in some way or another even if it's just through our love of fishing. Please take the disagreement to PM's, shake hands and keep this great thread for what it is supposed to be.......fishing in KZN

Wow, last post 5th November! That's how crappy the weather has been. We've been hammered by non-stop NE / SW busters down here the past 5 weeks but finally got a gap to get on the water yesterday. The swell was flat, light variable winds and for a change sluggish current. We filled up quickly with livebait at Shakas Rock near the uMzimkulu River mouth and made the call to go chase some of the yellowtail that have made an appearance the past month or so. We arrived at the first spot where we've had success before and while the guys prepped their bottom traces and live bait rigs I dropped my jig to test the waters. I went on instantly with what can only have been a nice yellowtail or AJ, the fish boxed hard and about half way up the hook pulled! I was bleak, but once I reeled it back I noticed the assist hooks point had snapped off... a clean break below the barb and on a 10/0 Mustad Hoodlum that is the last thing I would have ever expected! Not to worry, I replaced the hookset and two downs later I went on with another fish and my mate Clint who also dropped a jig went on as well.... DOUBLE UP! we were rewarded with two nice AJ's in the 7-8kg range. Things went quiet after that, with two solid hookups on bait - clearly yellowtail that reefed the guys within seconds and then nothing for a few hours. We finished up with a nice 'Bek for Clint's lightie who managed to bait up, hook and land the 'Bek all on his own! A great day on the water and fun as always.

AJ Double to start the day:

@Kegan - not really any buses around at the moment but they'll start moving in around Dec/Jan

@Mags - we usually have best results on slim jigs in the 200-300g range, white or pink. Try bumps and ledges in the 50-80m depth range and around isolated showings. Don't go too light on your gear though you may tie into a proper one and you need some strong gear to win that tussle!
