Got down to the club at 4:15 and met up with FFF to a strong NE and an unpleasant looking sea. After prepping the boat we were in the water by 4:45 and taking on some decent size swells as we left the bay.

After Anthonys' recent successes and my lack of fishing the past 4-5 months we decided to head off straight to his stomping grounds and give it a bash. We had some good mid-water and top water showings and wasn't long before we had a triple of on some Sarda Sarda... can imagine how the Tiagras were straining!!  :hehe:

We reset the spread and despite finding numerous shoals of fish we just couldn't interest them. The sea began to settle a bit and after some consultation with ground control aka Umpa Lumpa, we decided to move off to the ships in search of a dorrie or two. Found some bait balls (sprats??) probably over 200m long and pulled along them but no luck. We puzzled around a couple of ships until we found the one that Umpa had directed us to and as we approached, the fun and games started...

The Tigara and Tyrnos screamed off... double up!!! I quickly set a heading on the auto-pilot so that we could both box the fish and as I did so, Anthony quickly updated me that all 4 rods were now running... GAME ON!! With auto-pilot set, I grabbed the Tyrnos (schoolboy error) while Anthony made quick work boxing the others with the Tiagras and handlining them onto the deck. Anthony had landed all 3 YFT while I still had a very green YFT which took several runs but was eventually gaffed and boated!! We were quite chuffed to land all 4 YFT with 2 guys on the boat and not lose any to the taxman...

Continued pulling along before the West picked up and spanked us all the way home!! At one point we were taking swells from 3 directions... bumpy but good fun nonetheless.

Awesome to be on the water again and always good to fish with Tun Aslayer.

Thanks Shaun for a trip on the sea. Was good to get a couple of fish. Off Durban there is no garantee of even getting a pull some days so to get a 4up and land all 4 was an achievement on its own. Thanks

Shaun, they're so small, still schooling juveniles. Looks like those that mass under boats that have been anchored for a long time.

Makes delicious smoked Kippers.

Myself, FFF and junior ventured out today, flat launch, struggled for bait then decided to head to the ships as original game plan, halfway to ships the NE decided to enter the party and spoil things, sea was a washing machine, changed plan, come shallower around some reefs, but after wasting fuel we decided to beach for an early brekkie and coffee. Good to Catch up with Eric Cotton nice chatting with you sir also to meet up with Shaun 17, Donovan and Maganything.

Only for the sea to flatten by midday and turn out pearler, but reports are,  boats south and north also struggled, hope this %^&* disappears shortly.

We launched at about 6:30 with the NE pumping and the sea nice and bumpy... pulled around for a YFT and had one on/off. Also got to run my new Iland daisy chains from Shag which will get tested properly in December.

Dylan got nice and green after about an hour so headed in close and found a shoal of sarda sarda which the boys were hitting throw for throw on yozuris.

Got to see a few humpback,  a hammerhead and what I think was a manta ray putting on an aerial display for us.

k*K fishing but good to be on the water with the boys. Was good catching up with all the UA chaps afterwards at the club.

Good to see the boys out fishing Shaun. Pity about the weather reports for the weekend. We were halfway to the ships when the NE started blowing and just got stronger. Decided to turn around and call it a day as the NE does not stop usually. How wrong again. Wish this weather would come right.
