Launched at 04h00 and headed to LUGs to try for a snoek at firstlight, then for Garrick later in the morning, I had HD on the boat as he hasn't caught a garrick so we were amped, as we got there my motors hit something and the boat stopped, luckily we were going slowly, when I looked it was the shark nets, they had shifted north with the rough seas last week, there was also one in a ball with all the buoys and net mixed totogether, I radioed to control to warn the other anglers heading that way. We started spinning at the mouth when the sets started coming through at least 3 m so we couldn't get too close. The water was perfect for snoek with some good rips and that clean green colour. HD had two knocks on spoon then I had a chase and smash but didn't hook up, HD was pulling his spoon behind mine when bang on, he was fishing ultralight and got the snoek about 3kg next to the boat as I was going to gaff it , it turned and the nylon got to its teeth and was bitten off what a disappointment, we headed to the boat spots and the mackerel were wild, filled up and tried for a yellowfin but nothing, headed deeper to #1 and tried there with live bait but only a shark, tried rapalas for awhile but failed. Headed back to base to meet up with the rest of the hooligans and ex hooligans and future hooligans and have far too many teas and some great banter. Was a great day on the water although no fish on our boat. Till next time.
A bad days fishing is better than sitting at home moping.

Lekker report Chris (clap)

Myself and Fx3 also launched, game plan was target YFT after driving endlessly we decided to call it quits and go for an early coffee, heading back to base   :sreel:  and a 5kilo Bonnie, so we decided spend a little more time, set rods again followed same pattern and 10min later was rewarded with a 7kilo YFT. After been caught in the rain and soaked we called it. Hit the beach and waited for the rest of you hooligans to arrive and the  and banter flowed, hahaha Fluffer took hard knocks, few fish landed but good laughs and a lekker day none the less.

Well back to work so can post again. I went out of Friday afternoon with 2 guys from Pretoria. When we got to the club spoke to a couple of guys and everyone had blanked, no game fish around i was told.

Decided to pull a few rapalas around as the crew had not fished before.
I went to a close mark and began working the area, this way that way and could see fish and eventually got the direction right, i had 3 rods out and all 3 went away. Well 3 rods and 2 guys with no idea it was interesting. Got the rods out and we were all on. Then 1 off the first crew not enough pressure so off. Still had 2 on and i managed to crank mine to the boat. About a 6kg YFT. Now to help with the other one. He managed to get it right to the boat and off pulled the hooks. You cannot pull to hard when they by the boat and still green.

Anyway set the rods out again and up and down again but nothing more. Decided to pull to the ships and see if anything else could be had. At the ships i pulled the rapala's right accross the front of the 1 ship and bang 2 rods away. i cleared the 3rd rod and had the 2 of them fighting. Well was not long and the first fish was by the boat, and once again too much pressure and hooks pulled. The other guy i keep instructing him what to do and show a bit of patience and eventually he got his first fish to the boat was a 7kg YFT.

Should have had 4 YFT but was glad we got 2 out at least so they get to take fresh fish home with them.

Was supposed to have them fish with me and Umpa Lumpa on the Sat morning but they never made it in time and by the time they did call us back we were out. At least Umpa got a nice Bonnie and YFT so had happy crew 2 days in a row.

Sea is a bit busy and wind will increase as the morning progresses.

Its already about to be November, when will the sea and wind settle?

Yip had a look earlier - still crud, generally from December it starts getting better but you still get those 25kt easts for two days at a time
I see the west is later than predicted, only hit Port Shepstone an hour ago so should be here around 9:30 - 10?? Wonder if Shaun launched??
