Me neither - and won't be launching this coming weekend either - off to Cape Vidal on Fri for the annual Dads n Lads trip!
See that the price of geelbek has dropped drastically at the shops - I'm assuming they must be plentiful - need to do an evening trip soon!

Wont be long then I will be joining you on an evening trip. I hear the commercials are raping the seas again. Really sad indeed.

Firstly... Buoyweather, Guru,  swr <:

Decided to take the lighties out for an afternoon session yesterday for a bit of bottom fishing. By the time we got to tollgate bridge on the N3 could see that the wind was pumping a lot harder than predicted and even more so when we got down to the club.

Launched anyways and went around the corner to get some livies and filled up sharp sharp with mackies. We abandoned our plans to head south and headed off to the barge where the sea wasn't much better. Birds were going wild and dolphins feeling so we de-rigged a bottom trace to make a livebait trace (only bottom gear on the boat) and were soon vas into some small YFT. Tried letting them run but got taxed each time but think by the dolphins as our traces were untouched.

Also ended hooking a bird which we boated and managed to unhook and safely release. Kids weren't too impressed... After losing 4 YFT we switched to bottoms and the kids had good fun with the shad until the runny noses started!!

Good day out with the boys nonetheless... Probably won't fish again until October  :-(

Met up with FFF and Big D at the club yesterday, I launched (will be the last time I have to wait for first light) with Chris E and Fluffer, got live bait and went for Garrick at Umgeni mouth, sea was flat with an odd big swell coming through , put out live baits and started trolling, I told the guys I would skipper and not fish as need to be awake, I said they must throw spoons into the back line to try attract the Garrick to the baits, as we got into the back line a shoal of snoek came past at least 50 or more so I decided to change tactics and pulled in the baits changed spoons and targeted them, Fluffer lost one at the boat (pulling too hard) then got one out, then they disappeared , we got a few salad fish and wolf herring. we then tried again for Garrick but the tide had turned and the swell picked up so we headed out to the bait spots for a tunny. Had one run but it dropped the bait, called it a day and headed back to the club for a few cold ones with the rest of the lads. Was good to be out on the water after a few weeks.

We had more less same day out as Chris

Met up at the club with Chris, Chris E, DBN Hooker and Fritz, also loaded live bait, headed to umgeni and tried for Garrick, nothing biting so put out Rattlers and trolled for Tunny, after a hour or three tried for bottoms, day out was tough, managed a nice Englishmen and 1 soldier but nothing else. When we trawled past No.1 looked like a taxi rank with about 16 boats n the area, called it quits at 12h00 headed to bases for a few cold ones.

Was testing the Amia 7 foot on the boat on Saturday, (can throw those small Iron Candies a mile) very nice action but only managed some small shad and wolf herring.
