I like this knot, I use 8 turns and 4 turns, otherwise the same knot. Any reason for 7 & 3????

for me one of the best knots for braid and leader...don't like the albright knot to much

thanks for the info. Will definately try this one.At the boat show, Andre from Jigstar also showed an assome knot, with a nice finish, but I missed the beginning of the knot. They were overwelmed with enquiries.

The knot Andre showed you was most probably the PR Knot. Used extensively by all the serious Japanese Jiggers. They all swear by it - it's been tried and tested. It's a tricky knot that involves the use of a Fly tieing Bobbin. Unless you've got a big boat with a stable platform and table, it's very technique sensitive. Easy to do at home, but difficult on a rocking small boat.

The 7 turn uni with fig 8 is my number one knot for joining braid to leader. Easy to do, and when properly tied as strong as anything.

In light tackle up to 20lb, I still use the Yucatan, but for bigger leaders 0.8 and upwards, I use this one... it is definitely stronger.

. I watched Andre's assistant at the boat show doing the PR Knot and other than needing a friggen degree you need a hell of a lot of time, and he was not rocking on a boat either.

This is a nice knot!

I have normally used a GT knot to join my braid backing to mono top shot only because it is such a small knot and its easy to lay the main line over the knot. But this one looks tidy and strong, as well as much easier to tie.

This knot is very similar to the "slim beauty", but definitely easier to tie. Works like a charm, and is simple even in bad wind or on a rocking boat

Any thing over 0.8 i use a wind on leader... 0.7 is my limit with this knot.

Looks like a mean knot .. however, i use the FG knot. Can tie it using your hands and also using the EZ knotter (which i have subsequently purchased online). Once you get the knack, you wont look back :) Got reefed at a recent trip to Kilwa. Was not long and i was back in the action after tieing the FG knot with the knotter. Will also try the PR knot but FG seems so much smoother, especially when casting through the guides.
