Dullstroom 6/7 August
« on: August 07, 2011, 06:26:45 PM »
I took a new SWAMBO to Dullies this weekend. Didn't get to fish all that   much, maybe 3 hours yesterday and 2 hours this morning. I did manage to   get a few good fish though, 4 all together. The big hen fish is my new   PB, did not weigh or measure it but it was a strong, solid fish. As   usual the pics don't do the fish justice.

Thanks guys.
WK, I would not like to guess the weight, I never weigh fish so I don't really have a reference point other to say that it was heavier than a pint and lighter a case w;k .
All I know that it was noticeably bigger than any that I have caught before and also deeper bodied than what it looks in the pic. It's the first time that a trout has taken me into the backing. Got it at Mavungana's Bird of Prey dam. Well worth the R200 it costs to fish it.I will post a few pics of the flies that did the damage.

Thanks guys. Rory, I wet waded to about waist deep to revive the big hen fish, pretty cold is an understatement.
Big Van, I was  fishing a tandem rig, big olive aggrivater with an orange tail up front and a dark brown minkie with an orange tail about a meter behind it. Leader length +- 3m, 1m 2x flouro tippet then the first fly, another meter of 2x flouro to the second fly. Got 3 on the minkie and the big one on the aggrivater. Fished fairly fast over weed beds off the dam wall. Watched the bow wakes chase down the flies from about 2 meters away, BANG, fish on.
