Club 15 in watamu kenya is a South African owned and run business catering for SA fishermen in Kenyas main fishing area, namely Watamu.
They set themselves up about 12 odd years ago to enable South Africans to fish in this great destination, but without the US$ and GBP exchange rates that the other charters int he area charge.
The accomodation has recently been upgraded, with Club 15 purchasing a house within Turtle Bay, but further down the beach towards Mida creek, than hemingways etc. I havnt personally seen the new accomodation, but I believe is it very nice. The house comes fully serviced with a house keeper and a chef/ cook and a night watchman.
The boat is a 38ft supercat with 2x85 yamahas and the boat comes fully kitted with shimano tacke, tiagra 30's and 50's and tld 25-50's. I think there may be 1 or 2 80's as well, but they may be for the owners only. Anglers to take their own lures, and may take their own rods etc. Owbn jigging kit to be taken. Boat has a skipper and 2 deckies.
One of the owners recently passed away, and his son has taken over the bookings etc. i have always been there with them. There are about 8 - 10 weeks still available for the coming season. if anyone is looking at going on a decent fishing trip without breaking the bank, tyhis is worth lookign at.
Costs ex JHB, incl food, booze (depends how much you drink) transfers from mombassa to watamu return, etc work out at about 18k per person based on 5-6 people. This includes the boat and fuel, but again depends how long and far you fish, but that is the avg. 6 days fishing. The baot is incredibly economical due tot he boat being a displacement hull. the motros only sit at about 1200-1500 RPM all day.
I am waiting to get the dates availabkle from andre, and he will send me some pics of the accomodation etc.
if any one wants more info, please PM me and I will forward onto Andre and he can answer any questions.
I amy go again this year, but depends if a few jobs I have in the pipeline go ahead. if not no $$$$.
