So to answer your initial question, yes fly fishers are missing out and missing the point, mostly because they restrict themsleves.

In a KZN River called the Bushmans, the last 2 fish were caught about a month ago, the 1 is 57cm and the other is 60cm, the 1st fish is 58cm. 7-9cm flies were used.

I know of the Bushmans, never fished it though. Fished Lotheni three years in a row. Didn't fish the Berg this year.
I have Bushmans, Upper Mooi, Upper Tugela on my list. Would love to fish the Umzilkulwana and  some of the other streams in the Giants Cup Wilderness Area too.

There are no guarantees in fishing or life, but yes that is an awsome fly
