Easter Trip St lucia
« on: May 05, 2011, 01:40:29 PM »
Sorry for the long silence and delay in my report, but the scholl was hit my a manure truck and and everything got dumped on my desk.

My brother(snoek), father and me did  a trip over Easter to St lucia we had a great time but did not land any big fish. Caught quite a few small fish, all of them new species for me. Will be posting most of the pics later as snoek still needs to mail them to me.

It was a great pleasure to meet Werner (werries) and he turned out to be a great chap. Just beware he fished with a pink rod, unfortunately he broke this rod landing shark. But have to say that he showed great courage and skill landing it as the rod broke just above the reel seat, it was also the biggest fish landed in my presence the whole week.

The best talking point we have on the trip is me and snoek being surprised by a crocodile(2m+) on the beach about 4km north of st lucia at 3am in the morning. Needles to say that we needed new underwear.

My son, 2.5 years old caught his first fish ever. He saw that his dad did not know what he was doing took the rod from me and started shaking it. After about 30min he decided to reel in and on the line was a wave garrick.

Not one of our big baits got any attention, and even though we tried about everything we knew.
Some of our catches:

It was actually quite funny
little brother: look at this Do0s driving without any lights
Older brother: and he's in the middle of the road
Hippo: Snort
Me: footstep fading into the distance

Our story is about the same, except we had heavy backpacks on our backs, and I am sure we could have outrun an F1 car!

Nice report and  :clfoto:

Pieter, never mind the tan, you need to replace your fishing poles for some dumbbells....  :crzy  :hehe:

Those EELS are slippery buggers, and know how to wrap a persons trace

Nice Cave bass though, and good to see the little one following in dad's footsteps....Priceless man !!!  :win:
 :shre:
If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles

Drinking vaal water makes you go other colours, but if you notice there is a distinct patch of red on my  shoulders and neck. So It is not white anymore
