Launch fees for Visiting Boats
« on: May 04, 2011, 08:14:40 AM »
Please can you all advise of the launch fees the various launch sites charge visiting boats/ non member boats.
Due to our launch site at mdumbi having been apprioved in Dec, and it now being a Controlled launch, we have a long list of conditions we have to comply with to keep the launch open. These are both from DEAT and the local community, who have a long list of DEMANDS.
They unfortunately see ski boats as being the get rich quick scheme that will take the country out of poverty.
The club incured almost r50k in expenses getting EIA's done etc and the application for the launch site approved and there was no money in the club. We have at max 10 boats and at present 21 paid up members, so cash has to be recovered from somewhere. The launch site is in DESPERATE need of repairs, and the cash doesnt grow on tree, but guys are complaining bitterly that they have to pay to use the facility.
Please let me know fees for the various clubs around the country.

Sheesh, as if it's not difficult and expensive enough already to enjoy a day's fishing...  :unhap Taxes, levies, taxes and more taxes...  swr
As Clem Sunter said, the authorities are going to eventually tax this country to death.

At DSBC - If you belong to another club it is R150 + R100 for the tractor.
Boats without a club number is R350 + R100 for the tractor. My fees are R1750 including the boat reg. and all tractor pulls.

Those are all ball park amounts. Shelly changed to a per person rate on the vessels but for a crew it works out about the same as the R 150.00 stated. Club will have to launch plenty boats to make up 50K. Suggestion will be to open the pub a.s.a.p. as I'm sure here a lot of money is raised... w;k ... well at least when I'm visiting.... :hehe:

Tunaman, unfortunately, no pub to open. its a launch in the transkei, so facilities etc are limited. we have r50 to make up as it was borrowed from a member, and we also have 12k per year to pay the 2 community members, so funds need to be generated somewhere, and we cant caharge the 21 members 2k each per year, only to have everyone else abuse the resource wghen they arrive. trying to get a number that works for all sorted so we can charge a "fair" rate that covers some costs.

They are the actual amounts, verified with the club about a month ago for a mate that was coming down to fish, he paid R150 and launched with his Fortuner, was very happy -  R50 each - easy launch and had a good chow and cheap dops after a hot shower, the only thing missing was the fish, he came away with a couta head and a R900 fuel bill!

If it is a (kind of) new club, you should have a joining fee and annual fee. Say 500 to join and 650 per year - that would be cheap by usual club standards. Now you have 24150 to start with (current 21 memeber). Of course club members launch for free. Now you only need R25850 to deal with. Now charge R100 to launch for the first year, and 250 odd launches later you have paid your loan and you are putting money in the kittey for maintenance. At this point you can drop the laucnh fees too, R50 per boat would be cheap, maybe say R25 per crew.
